I don't think you understand how corporations handle situations like these. "Reassigned" isn't strong enough. They want to make an example. They want a fall guy, which means dismissing the person altogether. Seen it countless times across many industries.

Is that what happened here? I don't know yet. I'd rather give Chad some space and not nag him about the particulars of this ridiculous situation just yet. However, I do know for a fact that the NBA league office manages team social accounts very tightly. It would not surprise me if it was their directive.

This is a microcosm of the Dallas Mavericks as a whole trickled down from the ultimate whiny, entitled, Vagisil-bulk-buying, petulant Mark Cuban.

Act like entitled little ****heads who whine about every little thing, then when somebody gives you the slightest bit of backlash, super-whine about it like a tiny, ****faced megabitch because you are so deep in denial about the slightest inkling that you could ever actually fail so you lash out at anything and everything rather than actually own up to your utter and complete mediocrity.

    **** The Dallas Mavericks.

You really think the Rockets pay well?

Not what I hear from people who have interned and know how it is there.

We can replace him with DaDakota or Heypartner or Basso or myself

I have been on both ends of the table, both as an employee and an employer. Also in the capacity of helping to recruit for a professional firm and being recruited by professional firms. Have worked in large corporate firms and own my own small business now. So these are just my 2 cents based on that bias/perspective:

I can understand him being fired. I agree that I think today's society stifles even academic or productive discussion and is much too "PC". People can't pass gas without it being treated as a racist/political/religious/etc. statement that is guaranteed to be taken in the wrong light. I hate that societal reaction and I think it is misguided.

That being said, we currently live and make money in that same world of over-reactions. While I don't think the tweet itself / emojis was that bad (immature and unclassy and a mistake, certainly, but not that bad), the national (over)reaction sort of required the Rockets org. to be heavy handed.

It's simply an image issue at this point, and really, as a social media manager, the image and perception of Rockets is kind of the focus of the position I imagine.

Unfortunate situation, but in today's society, many employees (depending on the position) simply cannot afford to make these kinds of mistakes as the repercussions really ripple out for an org., and there is always someone to take that position who will not make those kinds of mistakes...

He should have been promoted. That's gold.

Robert Horry told me once how serious the Alexander's were about stuff like that.

I am a huge animal lover and the idea of animal cruelty never crossed my mind when I saw this tweet. I just laughed/cringed when I saw it. My gf is the biggest animal lover I know (we have like a dozen foster dogs at the moment) and a vegetarian and she thought it was hilarious.

Where's the Kobe "soft...soft" gif when I need it?

We should make a petition to get this cat his job back. Hell, I'd even go in on a go-fund-me donation to help this guy until the next job comes along.

Well that's why. Unions, public officials, State/fed employees, etc. Lots of protections in place.

Private organizations? One rule -- are you making money for your boss being employed in that position, or losing money? (relative to next available replacement generally, i.e., VORP)

That's generally the only consideration necessary for a company...

The guy 100% deserved it. Aminu played so well this series and it was honestly kinda sad to see him on the bench like that after fouling out. This guy clearly knew what he was doing when he posted that tweet. Hopefully the guy who replaces him has some sense

So a cop can shoot and kill an unarmed man and get suspended with pay but a guy who sends out a funny tweet gets fired? Something seems off here...

The person who replaces him will probably inevitably play it safe more often than not.

In fact, from the reaction of other social media managers I follow on twitter, they'll be more careful as well.

Nice offer by DaDakota, but I'm sure the perks of working in the stadium are awesome. Be interesting if Cuban hires him.

Sad he lost his job. That job must be like being a gynecologist. You never get sick of it.
