The goal here is not to fix the country, to fix race relations. It never has been with this crowd. This is not the MLK crowd, this is the Malcom X crowd. The goal is, and always has been, to break America and to make "the Man" pay.

Understand that many people like me across this country are aware that this is your true goal. And we are not going to allow it to happen.

 

What can I say, people being admittedly sarcastic to someone who is trying to provide their point of view and then complaining about snarkiness to that same exact poster on the same exact page can grind my gears.

Also, the idea that the "MLK crowd" and the "Malcolm X crowd" don't have a lot of overlap and similarities is a false narrative that has been used to whitewash the civil rights movement and discredit a lot of the insightful and good work Malcolm X did.

Your desired reparations will never happen, because under our system of laws, you can't make the sons responsible for their fathers' sins.

As I said, you are obviously not concerned with actually improving race relations and resolving this fight. If you were you wouldn't be spouting on about nonsense like reparations. Get this through your thick skull: Reparations are NEVER going to happen. There will be no check forthcoming. Until you get past that, there's not much to discuss.

To be prefectly fair, I think the largest incarceration rate in modern history of a system that targets minorities is the fairer modenn equivalent to slavery. I mentioned that subprime mortgage loans conducted with systematic racism were the obvious continuation of red-lining.

And if you want to explain Baltimore rather than ridicule the city, you might look into how 2008 destroyed urban black property values in the city. That makes it a lot harder to have the "nuclear family" you always crave.

 

Check will not be forthcoming, sorry. You're gonna have to make due with the SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, Social Security, and Obamacare subsidies that you get for free now.

As has been pointed out many, many times already (and of which I am certain you are aware), perhaps if those individuals did not commit the crimes that they were incarcerated for in the first [place we would not have the highest incarceration rate in the world? Just a thought.

What you really mean by that is that the banks didn't want to play along with social experimentation schemes that tried to force them into giving out bad loans under the CRA, right? Those nasty banks, always trying to make a profit by avoiding bad investments. Who do they think they are, trying to stay in business like that?

Baltimore is a product of decades of blue-state policy. Predictable policy. This sort of divide and descent into urban poverty is the inevitable result - it happens everywhere it's tried. But let's just ignore that. It's those damned racist cops and racist bankers and racist treemen trying to hold everyone down...

MLK had the right idea. And they made the progress they made in the '60s because his approach was successful. Not because of rioters.

You have no idea how much this sort of thing sets your "cause" back. It's extremely counterproductive and erodes almost all of the support and goodwill that the protesters would otherwise have gotten.

The case that this episode is centered around looks bad. It's quite likely that it results in the firing and prosecution of at least some of the cops involved. The protesters were, unlike in Ferguson, apparently on the right side of this case. But is anyone talking about that now? No. They are talking about the riots. And that's what people will remember.
