Stumped here. Nick Johnson struggled as well. Our switches are killing us, but without the switches Barea just gets an open layup or a quick dish to a post player for a dunk. I guess this wasn't as big of a problem when everyone was rolling and we won games despite this fact... Maybe the answer is to just ignore the defensive holes and outscore them at their own game lol.
Double the pg and force the ball out of his hands at half court. Use Nick Johnson to sub whenever we need to give our old PG's a breather.
I felt like the overall defensive rotation was just bad tonight so many times people switch randomly and then get lost, leaving a open lane or wide open shooters. they need to be more disciplined on defense.
law of averages says the neckless barea will not drain those J's next game. leave him open behind the arc.
Should have given Johnson more experience in the regular season rather than just throwing him into a playoff game against a high level offensive team in which the Rockets were already defending horribly and not trying very hard. He's not gonna fix the defense all by himself.
realize that JJ Barea is a ****ing scrub and treat him like one seriously, I think a lot of its mental
Did a decent job in the first quarter, hedging hard of the screen and forcing them to pass it to amare for an 18 footer. Would rather they shoot long twos and get to the basket at will
See, we tried that. It works up until Dallas screens with Dirk. That being said. I think we should really consider playing Nick Johnson in the 2nd quarter next game. At the worst, he's better than Prigs.
The pick and roll defense is a mess. Big's don't hedge properly. PG's are far too slow. The switching is laughable at times. It's like they're not even coached on how to play it.
Well, one thing we all know Brea is crap if you have a guy stuck on him. It's Mo Williams all over again. I would try Nick Hohnson early if it gets out of hand early. We cannot let that little pest suck in leave their shooters open, then on the other end take contested shots. Recipes for loss.
Terry and prig cannot keep up with the speed of the Mavs backcourt. They got to the rim at will and it made me sick
One big, noticeable flaw in our defense is that we don't cover their big men when Howard leaves his man to help on penetration. So you have two things happening - Ellis/Barea tossing tear drops over Howard all day, or Howard changing their shot and Chandler/Stoudemire/Aminu dunking put-backs. I think we should have Jones (who has been invisible in this series)/Smith swinging to help when Prigs/Terry get beat. Howard should be on the glass at all times.
Carlisle was soooooooooooooooo dumb to play Jefferson and Felton long minutes in game 3. Barea and Aminu are MUCH better and are kicking us right now. Yes, Barea penetrates at will and Aminu does a heck of a job on Harden. Will be a good game 5.
