ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Mavericks 4/26/2015 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 4)

The Warriors move the ball around and rarely ISO!

When they do, they have two sharpshooters jacking the ball up and they are going in at a 40%-50% clip most nights.

Harden isn't Isoing anymore. It has been noticeable. He is getting guys in space but is initiating PNR with our 4's and 5's.

When we iso, we are getting more Trevor Ariza, Pablo Prigioni(used to be Pat Beverley), Josh Smith in isolations that are not effective.

The Rockets played iso ball in that stagnant second quarter against the Mavs and payed for it with long rebounds and bad shots.

Hence Dallas owned on transition.

This team needs to keep beating up teams in the paint.

Which they are doing against a good interior defender in Tyson Chandler.

 

Easy there tiger. Tjones is not a stretch 4. We been killing due to Howards dominance and those crazy pick and rolls. Spurs are the real deal. They havent gotten any younger just teams are playing moreyball and becoming easier to defeat. This team is not currently playing moreyball.

 

We absolutely are.

Dominating the paint, taking more free throws than any other team, making threes and avoiding mid range. That IS moreyball.

 

Want Rockets to come in focused and get this game over with and end the series.

Dont want any injuries to happen to this team

 

Must take a "no mercy" approach. Don't give the Mavs even a glimmer of hope. Beat them down and get some days of rest. THIS is the game I want to win in the worst way.

I think after this BOS-CLE game, the rest of the games today are gonna be really tight. Kevin Love getting his arm pulled out of his torso and JR Smith connecting with a haymaker will do that.

We need to be prepared...the flop will be strong tonight...

GSW is a much better 3 point shooting team than us. The Rockets are playing the right way on offense in this series.

 

got into an argument (friendly) with someone about how, in his opinion, the spurs would absolutely dominate the rockets.... my response was how Howard could be the absolutely game changer in dominating the paint over duncan and splitter whereas harden would be relatively contained by leonard.... what are your thoughts?

We didn't give up Game 4 when we were down 3-0 to the Thunder.

I think we've let up a little, and the Mavs are extremely motivated to see if they can beat this team.

It's gonna suck, but chalk this one up as a loss.

We really need to be careful tonight.. I don't want anything that is happen in the Cavs/Celtics game happening tonight.

I don't think the Mavs have anyone that will take cheap shots (i.e. Jr Smith type players) but in the heat of the moment, you never know what can happen in terms of tempers or just a freak accident.


Just want us to play hard but careful. Don't get involved in scuffles and play safe basketball.

Mavs gave us their best shot last game with Dirk and Ellis both having huge games, yet we still won. Almost everything went perfectly for the Mavs in the first half and we were only down by 7 at half. No way we lose by 20+.

Mavericks cannot stop us. They have to pick their poison; either let Howard have his alley-oops or Harden gets his drives.

I hope this antijinx works. 0-3 with your predictions have lead us to 3-0.

 

I never said we weren't. And I know they are much better. But they are shooting more 3s than usual and at a worse percentage than usual and it's not hurting them. I just disagree with the notion that "Moreys all those 3s strategy is wrong" part of his post especially since just a bunch of 3s is a pretty misleading and inaccurate way of describing what the strategy is.

We are 1st in attempts in the resricted area. 1st in free throw attempts and makes. LAST in mid range attempts. Our 3 point attempts are down, but we are 4th in makes and I think that our attempts being down has something to do with how bad the defense we are facing is at stopping us from dominating the paint.

I'm not here to argue that we should be shooting less shots in the paint and more 3s. I'm reinforcing that what we are seeing IS Moreys strategy, LIMIT midrange as much as possible!When you use that strategy and you are actually hitting your 3s at the rate we are so far this series and the way we are dominating the paint you have an unreal offense. 3s, free throws and layups/dunks all while eliminating mid range as much as possible works really well.
