I agree...not horrible like everyone is making it out to be, haha.

The trailer seemed very corny. If it ends up being a misdirection, OK.

First reaction: Oh, God! M. Night and a found footage movie.

Second reaction: This is not scary or creepy at all. Maybe it's just the lighting and camera angles, but it does come off more comedic (maybe a dark comedy?) than horror. Something akin to Tucker & Dale vs. Evil.

Notice how the trailer didn't mention any of his films after those.

Not a M. Night hater. Liked a handful of his movies and didn't see others.

    But the trailer looks scary.

The oven part makes me think that the movie is based on Hansel and Gretel... so yeah, grandma is a witch.

And isn't usually everyone dead in a found footage movie.

You know what would really blow people's mind?

If M. Night Shyamalan made a movie that didn't have a weird twist with everything going sideways in the second half.

He should make a tender comedy/drama where the kids go visit grandpa and grandma, spend a week there, have a great time, and just go home afterwards. People's heads would explode.

He's become so formulaic that if you saw this trailer and didn't know who the director was but told them it was a big name, I think at least half the people would guess he made it.

It's hard to quit on this clown. I keep telling myself to stop watching his movies, but like a battered wife I keep coming back hoping he turned the corner. It's unbelievable this is the same guy who made those great movies 15 years ago. Since then he has been on a long streak of making garbage.

The movie trailer looks cool, the actual movie will turn out not to be so...as the history of his movies lets us know this.

What are some of the weird things you heard while working at the geriatric center?

If you have a Redbox discount code for a free movie then yeah sure. Otherwise I'd wait until the local library has it and get it for free then...or just wait until it turns up on FX or TNT(Not even sure i'd waste HBO money and tv time on it).

Not a fan of shamawhatever, but damn that movie seemed to be extremely low budget.

Has he fallen that far that he has to resort to making hundred thousand dollar movies?

Dhalsim was also underrated in Street Fighter.

I'm surprised anyone's financing him at all. He hasn't had a decent movie since The Village.

My role in high school was basically to spend time on the floor...go room to room and switch out the drinking water for the patients, take them magazines, see if they needed any help with something, etc...

Many times, I'd walk into a room and an old person would be doing weird stuff like standing in the corner of the room for no reason...or talking major nonsense like, "your eyes are going to turn purple and you will die"...etc... Actually, that person that told me I was going to die ended up just following me around the hospital floor rambling stuff about me dying or having all my family die and being left with nobody around me. And she'd slowly just follow behind me. Whenever I would come out of a patient room, she'd just be waiting there.

The scene in the trailer where the grandmother is in a rocking chair facing the wall is something I feel like Ive seen dozens of times in person and it creeps me out.

I have hundreds of instances of old people doing weird stuff in my head. It kind of shakes you up and I remember being nervous and anxious before entering every room because of the unexpected.

In conclusion, this trailer made me uneasy, haha.

It does look terrible, but I have to give it credit for some of the basic ideas.

    1. Who has not been left, as a kid, with old relatives and had a moment of WTF?
    2. So much of America is becoming aging boomers, and all families are dealing with confusing and depressing aging scenarios of grandparents or parents.

It's a good idea to try a film like this, but I doubt this one is specifically good.
