I think Dirk has a big shooting night, so we NEED to make him work on D.

 

Man, I wish we had a PG that could destroy Barea. He has become a pest on the court.
I remember when he was playing in Minny, Jeremy and Bev had solid games against him and exposed his height as a weakness...

I wish Jet/Prigs could be just as aggressive against Barea. I think once we get him winded on defense, his impact on the other side of the court is greatly minimized.

But that can be said about the whole Dallas team. They have no youth. We gotta do our part and exhaust them at every position.

All the Rockets need to do is look at what happened to the Pelicans last night with the Warriors getting 10 offensive rebounds in the 4th quarter and 16 second chance points. THAT, that EFFORT and the CHASE to those 50/50 balls is what got the Warriors back in the game.

The Mavs effort to 50/50 balls was much better in game 2 and than it was in Game 1 and that kept it close until the 4th quarter. The home crowd should get them even more amped and the urgency of being down 0-2 already.

The Rockets MUST, MUST maintain energy and focus and get their rebounds.

 

but he's giving up those buckets at the other end...man I really wish Bev could play now so he could crush this dude's spirit...

Why are we sweating JJ Barea, people? Yes, he's a pest and can score a few buckets for the Mavs, but if Dallas' playoff hopes are riding on him, then they've already lost the series.

The keys to winning are controlling the boards, Dwight avoiding foul trouble, taking care of the ball, pushing the tempo, making free throws, and converting easy layups and open 3-pointers. If the Rockets do that, they'll have a great shot at taking Game 3 unless both Monta and Dirk get 30+.

JJ Barea went 5/14 in game 2. I don't think that's who we have to worry about. If anything, he takes shots away from Dirk and Monta, which is something we want.

A big part of the reason why he hasn't had a positive +/- yet is because on defense he still doesn't quite know where to be. That will come with experience.

He does pretty well when guarding a player on-on-one, but as far as team defense is concerned, he's often not in the right position to contest shots as well as he should, and the opponent can score points.

That'll come with experience. He just hasn't played enough yet.

 

I love hour team has multiple guys stepping up. Game 1 it was jones, brewer, ariza, terry. Game 2 it was smith, brewer, and Dwight. I think tonight it will be terry, ariza, and jones. We gotta stay hungry and aggressive and exploit Their weaknesses. I expect harden to finally have a good shooting game tonight.

 

It's GAMEDAY BABY
