Osha took Rickon into hiding somewhere in the North so that no one could get their hands on him. They do mention where he is in the books but so far on the show they're staying quiet.
I think they are just saying we don't follow anyone unless it is a Stark. The two boys are assumed to be dead at the hands of Theon.
I believe he told him he would tell him about his mother when he returned from King's Landing. Which of course he never did.
The northern lords take it more seriously than the southern ones, but none take it as seriously as they used to. They send the criminals from their prisons there when the Watch comes asking for help. Even though he's a b*stard, it's an unusual thing when Jon shows up because of his lineage. So, I'd say they take it only moderately seriously. I think the harder thing would be the fealty to Stannis. But, it's a set-up in which the story can go whichever way the writer wants it to go. You can tell a credible story in which Jon becomes Lord of Winterfell and there's some grumbling about his vows, but the other lords put that aside for practical considerations. We've already seen the Boltons make a deal with the king that could be said to be not in the North's character. You can also tell a credible story where they spurn him as an oathbreaker. The groundwork for that has been laid as well. Who knows what the show will do with it in the end. Right now they say no to trying it, but I'm not sure why they'd include it in the show unless it's going to come up again later.
Not really. The First Ranger was Benjen Stark, an actual Stark and younger brother to the lord of House of Stark. The Lord Commander was the lord of House Mormont. One of the guys who died in the first episode was the son of Lord Royce, the man who is the second in command of the Vale. Sam Tarly was the heir to House Tarly. Yes, none take it as seriously as they used to, but they still take oath breaking seriously.
Fastest hour on TV, who else thinks Jorah was at the brothel to get some fun time with the Dany cosplay pro.....
It's clear a Sansa/Brienne/Stannis/Boltons collision is on the horizon this season. It's largely a departure from the books so I'm pretty excited to see how this plays out.
Really enjoyed John Snow putting the blade to Lord Janos. The tension was great. And the way they filmed it reminded of Dark Knight. Just perfect.
I honestly have no idea where they are going with this. There is a role too for Theon to gain his moment of redemption on the horizon as well. He's always been one of the characters stories I felt like skipping over, but he's now at a place where everything he's been through could be worth it if he comes through in the clutch.
