The Houston Astros have the 4th best record in the American League, and the 10th best in MLB. The 2nd longest divisional roadtrip in MLB is Seattle to Anaheim. Houston to Seattle is 900 miles further than that. Thanks, Bud.
So... when do playoff tickets go on sell. I hope they give Woj a few more starts. He's been bad, not much debating that, but I would like to see him get a chance to make some corrections. I'm also pretty tired of Peacock.
I didn't see Valbuena's 2nd HR, but he hit the first one right on the screws. Very nice surprise to see him hit with this kind of power. Hopefully he keeps it up and can get 20-25 this year. Heck, he's already a quarter of the way there.
If Peacock's injury is the typical Astros' oblique strain, he'll be out for a while. I am curious to see Straily.
He hit the 2nd just as hard, maybe harder. Over the last 2 seasons he has averaged 18 HR per 600 PA. He's already demonstrated an ability to take advantage of the Crawford boxes. Honestly I would say 20-25 HR is my expectation at this point, not my hope. My bigger concern is his average. Over his career he has been a very poor hitter, with a low LD%. Last season that number spiked, if thats the new Valbuena he's an excellent 3B, if it's not he's just OK.
Congrats on your awful prediction earlier in this thread. But instead of being happy with a three-game winning streak, your next post is a steaming pile of pessimism. Well done!
Valbuena just as a league average 3B is a monstrous upgrade over Dominguez both hitting and fielding. Glad to see it paying dividends so far.
Valbuena and Lowrie have both given us good upgrades so far The biggest difference has been the pen though, our pen seems very well put together
They showed that the bullpen ERA is either 1st or 2nd in the AL this year. 2.07 going into last night's game and another 4 2/3 innings of 1 run ball last night.
I'm glad Hinch is letting Tony Sipp just pitch. Quite a few times Porter would bring Sipp in as a situational guy, only to replace him with an inferior pitcher just because he is right handed. Sipp is too good to be treated like a loogy.
It is crazy that at one point the Astros had Wags,Dotel, Lidge as the 7-9 inning rotation. how did they not get a ring?
I even thought to myself that when Thatcher came in and it went to 5-3 M's...I thought that our offense wouldn't be able to play from behind. Great to see the guys battle back and regain the lead. Positive signs!
