On the contrary, I think the Spurs just exhausted themselves to make this late push in the season.

The reason why they take so much intra-season rest now is because they did something similar in 2011 when they lost their first round matchup to Memphis after dominating the regular season and eventually getting the #1 seed.

Odds are more likely that they hit their peak and could face enough attrition/regression to lose in the playoffs, then go all the way again.

Manu Ginobili was the Spurs best player that year and messed up his elbow. People just seem to ignore that.

That also stumbled to finish the regular season. It was nothing at all like this year.

The Spurs were so shaky the Grizzlies tanked to play them and I called that series as a tossup.

If Manu were right, Spurs probably have made the Finals instead of the Mavs.

I see Spurs taking both home games, splitting in LA, and then finishing it off in game 5. Kawhi is going to frustrate the hell out of CP3, and Doc's terrible bench assembly is going to get destroyed by the Spurs' bench.

The Spurs have problems with athletic teams. Clips lack of depth worries me, but the key for them will be Jamal Crawford. He's the x-factor. If he plays well, the Clips have a good chance. If not, the series will be over pretty fast. Let's go with the upset and say LAC over SA in 7.

I'm worried the hacking is going to keep DeAndre off the floor, they aren't close to the same team without him.

There has been no time before or since 2011 that he averaged what he averaged in that series against the grizzlies.

If that's manu playing hurt, I'm sure Pop would LOVE that version of Manu every year. In fact in the last 8 years, Manu's 2 point field goal percentage in 2011 was the 2 best in those years.

Blaming a Manu's injury on the grizzlies winning that series hides the fact that the grizzlies front line manhandled the spurs front line.

Manu had nothing to do with why the grizzlies was able to beat them, and very little to do with why the spurs swept the grizzlies 2 years ago.

The rise of the spurs has a lot to do with Kwahi, Splitter and Danny Green getting better.

In 2011, the grizzlies were just the better team, point blank.

"If they can't beat these old Spurs, they have to break this team up. ... You can't continue to do the same thing." - Chuck

    Bold!

What, you're not gonna re-sign DeAndre? Gonna trade one of Paul or Blake? Or get rid of role players Redick and Barnes? Get rid of your non-existent bench (outside of one guy: Crawford)? Not sure there is a whole lot to break up.
