He looked either lazy or tired on defense in the 2nd quarter when Rondo went off. Otherwise I love what I'm seeing from the rookie. I don't think he's a star in the making but he is definitely going to be a starting player one day. Can he develop an offensive game outside of the pick and roll? Great pickup by Morey.
His length created the presence we needed. He needs to look around and put a body on someone on defense, if he's not he better be standing right in front of the basket.
Dude, he played soccer first... meaning his footwork will be as good as Hakeem's once he works at it. LOL
i hate how josh and terrence would be right behind also challenging the shot and allow their man to get the offensive rebound. that was a bunch of nonsense. no need for them to be following capela, box out your man. if he can't block it you certainly won't when you're behind him.
Definitely way better than Dorsey but im happy with Capela. He's gonna be our backup center going forward.
I think McHale is playing him only because he can get away with it in this series. He has some margin for error to get some on the job training here. He knows he has Dorsey as a fallback option to give his consistently underwhelming performance if things go south. Not sure it will work against a team like SA for instance.
I think it's matchup, Dallas has two very good drive-to-basket guards, so McHale wants to have size in the middle and shot blocking threat.
I keep reading this. Can someone justify why? Not challenging the position, by the way. Just curious.
Giannis the Greek Freak, was picked 15. That's still ten picks higher than Capela but it just goes to show that there are still some deficiencies in scouting overseas prospects that don't go through AAU, McDonalds AA, and eventually Kentucky. I can't say that if Capela went to Kentucky he'd go #1 or or anything, but I would say that if Giannis had been through AAU, etc. and eventually NCAA I think he'd for sure be the #1 pick in his draft class. If I'm that confident in Giannis going #1, I think Capela for sure would have gone much lower than 25. NCAA actually favors players who can lean more on their defensive ability as well. Given the gameplay from the coaches who milk the clock, and muck up the game on the defensive end, and slow the pace, You'd have to think that Capela and Giannis would have looked really, really good in the NCAA. Hell... Thabeet looked good in the NCAA.
I love Capella, and I know he's great for the team, but I also really liked Dorsey's effort this year... and I always feel a little bad for a hard-working guy who's spot in the rotation is flat out taken away right under his nose by someone on the team who just proved themselves better. Especially when that someone is only 20 years old. But good for Clint. He earned it. I think Dorsey still has a spot in the NBA going forward, though.
Yea my friends and I saw that too. Josh really needs to stay with his man and trust the rook to do what he's done his whole life: block that mess five rows into the stands.
