Thirded for Charles Tyrwhitt. Extra slim fit, non-iron dress shirts are usually $30-40 after deals/coupons. Brooks Brothers is fine, but their patterns seem a little less stylish; the ex would always say I look like an old man in BB shirts.
Oskar Schindler Hello! Pardon me for interfering, but that's a nice shirt. Nice shirt. Do you know where I can find a nice shirt like that? Pfefferberg Like this? It's illegal to buy or sell anything on the street. We don't do that. We're here to pray. Do you have any idea how much a shirt like this costs? Oskar Schindler Nice things cost money. Pfefferberg How many? Oskar Schindler I'm going to need some other things, too, as things come up.
Great. I feel like I have plenty of good places to start looking when I upgrade my wardrobe. I think what I'll try next is to get a couple shirts altered for a tighter fit, convert one to a casual shirt by raising the hem, and look at either Brooks Brothers or one of those other places for a tailored shirt.
THIS. That subreddit has everything you need. The key to dressing well is fit, not brand. (tried to rep you, Com, but apparently I need to spread some around)
Since you're open to custom, I suggest getting your measurements somewhere like J. Hillburn, having the shirt made, see how it fits, alter it again using a tailor, refine the measurements with the help of the J. Hillburn rep, then use those measurements at online stores from there on out. Hillburn is convenient because they come to you, they're extremely thorough, they wont be busy when you see them and they are affordable. After you get those measurements in hand you can order custom anywhere online, often cheap. There are a handful of really, really good custom shirt makers under $70 with a wide variety of fabrics.
No, you were fourth I've had 6 non-iron slim fit shirts for over a year now and they look as good as new. Last week I purchased 4 more, but this time extra-slim fit.
Not sure if y'all caught mine. I stated ctshirts.com which is the same brand except I didn't have to spell it out like a douche. I like them because the sleeve length goes to 37 in every size.
Whoa whoa whoa! (fwiw I hate spelling that word correctly) You were just offering an unbiased statement. If you had given CTcool shirts a proper endorsement we might have considered you Nth endorser...
I think I'll definitely get a ct shirt. Maybe this one http://www.ctshirts.com/mens-shirts...fit-shirt?q=share||fd309blp|||||1862,||||||||
My wardrobe is almost exclusively Express 1MX shirts, but that's because they're the best fit I've found and I bought them when I was a poor college student. I wear fitted/extra-slim XS from Express. Always heard good things from Charles Tyrwhitt shirts. I tried one an extra slim S and I could tell the material was great. Unfortunately, having a chest size of 35, their S is on a 36-37 chest size. Ended up returning it, but when they come out with a 35 chest, I'd switch my wardrobe to them.
Order slim or fitted shirts from T.M Lewin or Charles Thyrwitt for work. You can do it online. They usually have promotions where you can get a bunch for reasonable $$. Still more expensive than most stuff over here, but the quality and tailoring is definitely better. For the special occasions, get a few shirts from PINK. Make sure your shirts fit you. It drives me nuts when folks wear ill-fitted dress shirts/suit. Its better to wear Tshirts/jeans if you cant get them fitted properly.
I did custom for a while from Brooks Brothers and Custom Shirt makers to get my own patters and perfect fit. If I have to buy from a store then I'll go with Ike Behar, Theory, or some designer label.
Fit is the most important thing. I have several custom Alfred Dunhill shirts that I really like, a few real expensive customs from Eton, Brioni and Mabro. Retail for some of those can easily get above $500 per shirt... fortunately for me I don't pay retail haha Get measured and find a quality mid price manufacturer. J. Hilburn is a good entry level one someone mentioned earlier. Work your way up from there.
What are some examples? I use Trumaker for all of my custom shirts. I probably have 20 shirts from them, but their selection is very limited and rarely broadens. I have my custom size from them but want to find other online stores that I can submit my size to and have shirts delivered to my home. thanks.
Update. I bought a CT shirt a few months back, white with blue stripes non-iron extra-slim, and I think it was a great choice for the price, about $30. Overall, I don't think I would spend the $60-$70 for their normal price, but when those discounts role around it may be worth it to browse. The collar spread seems a little un-American but I don't think anyone could really notice or care about that.
