Is she the new Jar Jar?

I thought we were done with CGI star wars.

I don't think CGI characters are bad for SW provided it's done right along the lines of Gollum or the new Apes movies. I doubt they'll make the same mistake again.

There's no chance they repeat a mistake like jar jar. None. The CGI will be fine.

Was never concerned about the CGI or using CGI characters... more concerned with putting them in more for comic relief and merchandising reasons, rather than the story itself. (in addition to making it as close to Roger Rabbit as possible).

I understand why its used to portray Gollum or an ape... (even though the former probably could have been done just as well with makeup and a frail dwarf)... but lets just hope that turning an academy award winning actress into a cartoon is being done for serious story/plot issues.

Here are the vibes I'm getting:

Daisy Ridley hates her parents because she's been cast off. She hates jedis. Reluctant to seek out her uncle and be a hero. Doesnt believe she has power in the force. A fighter. A rebellious woman.

Black dude. Left the storm trooper army to join the good guys. Because of something he saw. Conflicted if he did the right thing. Will backstab the team in the future but only to save the team later on because it was all according to the plan.

Pilot. Loyal but cocky. Courageous. Believes in the pilots of the past. Hates how soft everyone has gotten. Risk taker. Future love interest to Daisy?

Adam Driver. Now speculation says he's the guy in the mask but in every poster thats been out im guessing theyre never gonna take that mask off. Which is a waste of the guy's talent... So something is off.

Comic Relief is needed in small doses, but it should be situational and within character, like Shakespeares grave diggers, or Han Solo's, "I know." You can roll with that. Otherwise you go full r****d.

I agree, I thought it was okay. Nothing like the Mad Max trailer.

    Can't really compare them.

Mad Max has an intergalactically awesome trailer because it needs to reveal too much just to get a decent turnout. Star Wars can tease us with its trailers and not show everything; we'll go see it no matter what.

Besides, Max is one month away, Star Wars is eight months out. Maybe as time draws near SW will give us that much more in its trailers.

I liked the SW trailer. Thank God George Lucas signed over the rights so that someone else could make the movies.

Isn't this just a teaser trailer and we'll get an actual one soon?

I just watched this first thing this morning, and came here to see what everyone else had said about it.

They nailed it, for sure. The best part about it is that it has some *personality*, just like R2D2. And the fact that they did not wuss out and use CGI.. if this fact alone does not fan the flames of encouragement for the doubters, nothing will.

It will be interesting to see how they did it - I have a pretty good idea how it must have been done, very complex machinery inside it to make it move, keep balanced and be able to make the head move (on a base of ball-bearings I imagine).. very strong magnets on the inside of this thing..

Every new thing I see washes away more and more of the stink of George's mishandling. Thank goodness. Now can December hurry up and get here already??

JJ Abrams loves making space ships fly in planetary atmospheres.

Aren't all the storm troopers supposed to be clones of Django Fett? So shouldn't they all look like Maori?

When I first saw the trailer I thought it was Jordan Peele. It would be fitting since he's already done Star Wars.
