Grab the board or steal, leak out, easy basket, run back and D again. Do this 100 times, we win. It's that simple.
1) James Harden & Dwight Howard play like superstars 2) Win every home game 3) Hit 70%+ free throws 4) Play Capela over Dorsey
I think this will be the key when it is all said and done. His D on Harden's iso ball scares me the most. He sticks to him pretty well. I am scared Harden will work really hard for his shots and wear down like he did against portland playoffs last year. We NEED to get him off the ball movement more to get some easy buckets to get him going. No more dribble dribble dribble iso crap unless time is running low. Set some solid back door picks and lay Rondo on his arse. This needs to happen if you want him fresh later on. Harden is pretty good off the ball while in motion but we just don't do that enough. Save the ISO/hero ball please.
Stick to what worked all season: Attack attack attack Kick out to shooters Shut down the paint on defense -> Block/rebound -> RUN RUN RUN in transition We need to shoot at least 35% from 3 each game. Refs
No hero ball in the 4th quarter. Grab all the rebounds. No matador defense as Mavs like to attack the basket. Make them shoot jumpers. And a steady diet of Spoiler
1. Defense 2. Defense 3. More Defense The Mavs are a week defensive team. They can't shut down the Rockets, but the Rockets do have the ability to shut down the Mavs. If the Rockets can maintain their focus and intensity on defense in this series they should win it pretty easily.
Keep Rondo from getting into the lane and we will be just fine. We match up extremely well versus Dallas
Defensively, just stay aggressive and tenacious. Jump the passing lanes, and fight to keep Rondo from getting into the lane. We want them taking outside jumpers. Offensively, NO POST UPS. Run the pick-n-roll, and let Harden decide where he wants to go with the ball. Get Ariza going early, and let Brewer loose.
We need to contain the Monta - Dirk PnR. That's their biggest strength. We stop that, and they don't have a chance. Easier said then done, obviously, but that's the way it is.
The Rockets can NOT give up extra possessions or commit too many unforced turnovers. I also hope Rondo doesn't go back to 2010 and start going crazy
You guys are saying Monta and Dirk PnR. With Dwight in the middle, we have so many options. I don't see how they will be able to stop us from lobbing it high to Dwight. RC can coach all he wants, there is just no strategy to stop that.
Something else, do any of you have the same impression that I do: it seems like Dallas has over thirty players on their sideline? They just keep coming in waves. What is the playoff roster limit?
To be honest, the biggest weapon Dallas has ... is Mark Cuban. Yall remember how he PR his way to the league showing Yao was moving in the pick and got him in the foul troubles in 05, which resulted in Gumpy blasting the league costing him 100 g.
Do not bite on Parsons' pump fakes. Play Brewer close to 30 minutes a game. Do not allow Dorsey to suit up. Take advantage of Dirk on offense with Jones. Get into Ellis' head early (Ariza).
Smith and Brewer will be big keys. They helped spark the comeback a few weeks ago in Dallas. And I noticed in the earlier games against the Mavs that the Rockets made big runs against them when they had to go to their bench which is inferior to ours(although the addition of Amare does help a little in that area).
