    We are seeded #2 over them for the same reason Portland will be seeded #4 over Memphis. But Memphis will get home court.

    No, they wouldn't... because they didn't win their division. Hence they're the #3 seed.

    Just got home from the gym. Did a miracle just happen?! Spurs lose to Pelicans. Rockets win. OMG!

    But I thought Pacers had to beat Grizz for us to get 2nd seed??

    The Rockets have home court, and the 2nd seed, over the Clippers because they won the division and that is the first tie-breaker when the two teams have identical records.

    Hope this clears it all up. I'd rather dicuss the FIRST round series, before we automatically jump to the 2nd round.

    can't believe we pulled it off!! We have to take advantage of this and make a deep run in playoffs. Everything is lining up perfectly!! Can't come out flat this weekend. Take care of business at home.....let's go!!

    I get that. But I'm interpreting there is a separate procedure for home court advantage. Yes we win second seed based on being division champs. But division champs doesn't give you home court. The NBA says that for the purposes of home court, it goes back to two team tie breaker rules in sub paragraph a. The first tie breaker is head to head for the purposes of home court advantage.

    It doesn't get any better than this. If the Rox can't beat the Mavs with home court, after all Cuban has mouthed off, they deserve to be mocked the entire offseason. No. Excuses.

    That is not true. If the Clippers had a better record than the Rockets, they would be seeded #2.

    Read the very first section, "tie-breaker basis".... division winning trumps head-to-head.

    The remainder of procedures are more for teams who were not division winners, etc.
