I don't want Mavs. Carlisle will outcoach McHale to compensate for their roster deficiency.

We have a chance with Blazers with Mathews out and Batum banged up.

I will be super happy if we just make the 2nd round...So if we lose to the Warrirors so be it. Better than losing to the lowly Mavs once again.

Blazers might be the walking wounded...Once you see blood in the water...you prey on them first, then worry about those coming after you...but hate the fact that I'd have to stay up so late to watch game...guess I'll have to get up early dead tired..:) GO ROCKETS!!!

Any chance that Harden can attack a weakened Batum and any of the other wing defenders in this matchup should be very enticing.

Wouldnt mind the Mavs, but never ever underestimate a well coached team. They will always find a way to remain in ball games at all times, and Rondo's specialty is the postseason!

Best case scenario for the Rockets:
5th seeded with HCA vs Blazers

    The Story book ending:
For the 2nd round, I would love to face GSW...and I think that matchup could totally change the perception of the Rockets, if they managed to beat them(highly unlikely, but nice to dream). If the Rockets do manage to get to the 3rd round, hoping to get the Spurs. For the title, would love for the Rockets to beat Cleveland or the Bulls(I think they'll represent the East this season).

Mavs because that means we get the 2 seed, otherwise stay at the 5 and bring on Portland.
Regardless of what other teams do tonight, a loss to the Jazz would be crippling.

I'd rather Mavs or Blazers. So as long as we win tonight, we are in good shape for round 1 imo.

If Spurs lose, that's great because we can be number 2. with home court in second round.

If Mem also loses, that is the best case scenario because we don't have to see spurs or gsw until WCF.

But let's just get out of round 1.

Dallas. They don't have that one guy that can takeover a series. They have to beat you as a team, and I don't think they are good enough.

While Portland is injured, they have two guys that can get hot and carry them to 4 wins.

To put it another way, would you rather see TJones/Smith matched up on Nowitzki or LMA? Or would you rather see Terry/Prigioni matched up on Rondo or Lillard. There's your answer.

Slotts/Carlisle is a wash. Both are good coaches.

I want Dallas, both because it's an easier path and we get the prestige of the #2 seed. I'll give up 4 spots in the draft for that.

The bigger question to me is: "How much do you want that NOP lottery pick?"

If SA loses tonight, we don't get the Pelican's pick.

If SA loses tonight and we win, at least we get the 2nd seed.

Interesting position to be in. Curious to know where you fall.

Best case is the last scenario. We get 2nd and Spurs get 5th to set up a second round match up of SA vs GS.

We need the 2nd or 5th seed! I prefer the 5th but we need to avoid the 3rd and 6th seed!

Has anyone answered the question. If we land 2nd and clips are in 3rd and we both advance, who gets HCA?

If we have the tiebreaker to get the 2nd seed, I imagine that same tiebreaker will give us home court advantage.

The reason why people feel that way towards you is because your history of posts shows you are a Rockets pessimist.

We would have HCA in that potential 2nd Round matchup because (in your scenario) we have won the division.

Well heck. I didn't realize we played them 4 times this year instead of 3 and are 2-2 against them. Further I didn't realize that didn't matter. Just muddled through tie breaker criteria. Division winner takes it. They are 2nd to the warriors. So there you have it.

ill take the blazers ... i rather play the warriors instead of the clippers or san antonio ... if it was just the 1st round ... i would take the mavs ... simply because we would have home court .

    Poetic justice:

Dallas in the first round. We win in Game 6 at Dallas on a Jason Terry game winning three pointer over Chandler Parsons with 0.8 seconds on the clock before moving on to face Portland for an easy sweep in four games in the second round. In the conference finals, we'll face the Spurs who just finished a tough seven game series with Golden State. We win the WCF and sweep the eastern conference winner.

Mavericks, for one simple reason. We would be the 2 seed with home court advantage till the WCF and the added side benefit of avoiding Golden State till then.
