Is this kid for real? 6'5 PG from Missouri (46th Pick). Recent Stats: Against Westbrook: 30pts, 7ast Against Lillard: 27pts, 5ast Against Rondo: 26pts, 6ast Against Rubio: 18pts, 9ast Against Felton: 21pts, 9ast Against CP3: 20pts, 6ast
Cumulative stats can be padded on a tanking team, but what's really important in his case is he efficiency as a rookie. Since February despite high usage rate he is shooting 46.5% FG% on 13.5 FGA as a guard, and AST/TOV ratio is 2.4. These are stats that high-usage rookies guards like MCW never came close. I think that a screams future all-star.
His stats will drop sharply in the first half of next Season. Then go up again in the second half after Kobe has another season ending injury.
I'm a Lin fan but Byron Scott made the right move starting this kid over him. Nice size and athleticism, over achieving second round picks like him are exactly what the Lakers need to turn it around next year.
I liked him coming out last year, I never understood why he wasn't considered a first round prospect.
I'm curious if the Filipino community (here or abroad) identifies with him. They seem to like Spoelstra just fine.
I didn't know he was a filipino brother. I am now a fan of him, where as before I hated on him for being a laker rookie. I don't necessarily identify with him, but it makes lakers games easier to watch and gives me a player outside of the rockets org to cheer and be happy for, just get him off the Lakers! lol
Not really a die hard supporter him. Also I hope the Philippines finally makes history, like India did with Sim Bhullar.
Pretty good for a rookie, but like all of them, need to improve to actually be "good" judging by veteran standards.
He's been pretty "good" by veteran standards, it's not like these are D-league numbers. He's putting up an efficient 25+ points against the likes of Westbrook, CP3, and Lillard. The Lakers have him locked up through 2017 at 500K, 800K, 1.1M, then restriction!

Why just use his numbers against those good PGs? If you look at his overall numbers, it's okay but nothing really fantastic. The fact is, he had some great games and he had some very poor games and the overall average is very mediocre by veteran standards. I do agree that he has potential to be good judging by the brilliant games he had against those elite players.
Good enough to be a serviceable player in this league for years However, he is just a tweener right now. Another combo guard.
