Im starting to doubt the coaching staffs ability to motivate these players. Players look like they could care less. Lookin at you Springer.

2 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 2 in the 6th. Got 1 run to show for it. That plus 4 unearned runs will beat you every time.

I lied. They stranded the bases loaded in the 3rd, but yeah, your point stands regardless

The feast or famine offense is a lot more famine at this point.

    Hernandez

Yes, but with a whip almost 2.00. He struggled with walks and hits.

He leads the team in SLG, naturally he's at 1B. ;)

I think I'd try lowrie in the 2 spot and springer 3rd... Seems more natural and gives a r-l-r match up ... Also first base defense should be better and one less strikeout machine!

Springer, Valbuena, Gattis and Carter - the opening day 2-5 hitters - are a combined 6-66 this year with 1 XBH, 1 RBI, 5 BB and 31 Ks

And.... I don't know, but a team that's struggling to score runs should really not take themselves out of innings like that

One of the very few knocks on Altuve is his baserunning.

His instincts are surprisingly poor. He needs some serious sessions with Biggio or Bagwell whenever either of them are at the ballpark.

Biggio made a great point on the opening day espn broadcast re: how good Casey Candaele was as a baserunner and how much B&B learned from him.
