Because every year someone or some group of people doubt the Spurs then they make a run and prove us wrong. it has gotten to the point where you expect the Spurs to come good until they don't anymore.

I am just glad they cannot compete for the best record in the West or overall in the league this year like they did 3-4 years ago.

They cannot dominate both. Regular season and the playoffs because of stamina problems.

Chance for teams like Memphis, GSW and others.

I thought they were number 1 overall last year?

Your right, they clinched the top overall seed last year and throughout the playoffs.

    They dominated both last year?

If Kawhi was healthy all year, I think they would be closer to GS's record than to the Mem-LAC-HOU glut.

I know you're probably asking this rhetorically. But I was curious so I checked. :)

The Spurs came out of the All-Star Break and lost 4 in a row, the last of these games against Blazers on 2/25.

Since 2/25 , the Spurs have lost 3 games (to Cavs, Knicks, and Mavs). And they have won 20, including the last 10 games in a row.

That's right, since 2/25, their record is 0.870.

Pop has Baynes, McHale has Dorsey. That's a big difference. Pop has Patty Mills as his 3rd point, McHale has Terry and Prigioni as his first and second. Mills is better than both of those guys. McHale has a front office mandated offensive system that requires volume 3 point shooting, but few good 3 point shooters to deploy. "Giving more guys a role" is not going to turn them into good shooters.

I know - it's totally bizarre. It was on 3/17 - in NY. But still.

I've never seen a modern team use the backboard so much.

If Dwight, TJones, Dmo, Beverley and others were to be healthy all year....

We can play that game forever.....

If Grizz beat the Pacers tonight, as is looking likely, short of there being upsets, Spurs will have to go through the following teams to win the 'ship

    Clippers
    Rockets
    Warriors
    Cavaliers

    All without Home Court.

    Doable.

If the Spurs are in form, Warriors is the only team I see that can stop them in a seven game series.

If they are not in form, any of those teams can take them out.

The interesting question is how their stamina will hold up through those series given their age.

They have been coasting through the regular season with Pops managing their minutes. Now they have to go all in.
