Very disappointing game. We had to have this one and we blew it. Just a bad game all around, poor execution and we were mentally weak. We don't have enough guys who play well in big games. The only "big game" players are honestly Dwight and Ariza. Tough to have your starting PG and key rotational big out. Just not enough firepower to keep up with the best. Just disappointing. I am not very optimistic for the playoffs.
Frustrating thing is... hack a rocket big strategy is solo fool proof. Cya next year for a new round of let downs. NO MVP for Harden. No getting out of the first round again. No chemistry to be made cause this team is gonna get busted up for sure. Dwight is like Clowney. We are just filler for the rest of the league. Prove me wrong.
You are talking out of frustration. So was I and many others. I would just say giving McHale a 3-year extension was premature.
We played with intensity for the first 6 minutes and then only TJ and some others showed up. Harden was a p***y and is not the MVP, he was crying like a b**** about not getting fouls called. Our bigs are a bunch of pansies letting Duncan getting dunks and not making FTs as well. 1st round exit, here we come.
For next season ... (to assuage the disappointment) who do we retain? Beard Ariza Brewer (at the right price) DMo Capela Johnson (rookie deal) definitely gone Dorsey (I would go to HOU and pack his bags for him) Terry Prigs Bev Papa JSmith If I get good deals, I'd trade them. Howard (Can't have my 2nd star missing half of the season) TJones (injury-prone and defense against elite bigs not good enough) We need elite to great PG (Llull?) several 7 footers who can bang and rebound (Asik?) lights-out 3pt shooter/s
I'll admit, I was panicking a bit after this game. But just looked at everyone's remaining schedule and we have by far the easiest. I think it's pretty simple, we win out and we'll get the 2 seed.
I'd keep Prigs because he knows spanish and can keep Llull comfy here, a lot of Euro players just fail because they are in a new place and all so I'd keep Prigs for that reason alone. Besides, he's still a decent player. I'd keep Papa too, he's young and still has room to grow. Honestly, the best move this team can make is hopefully get the 14th pick from NOP and trade it and some young player to the Nuggest for Ty Lawson. It's said that he was on the block but they wanted two picks for him. I'd go in on a Lawson/Harden back court. If you make that trade then all you have to do is keep that depth and continuity. We have had no continuity and no sense of team. Just flipping the roster every single year trying to load up and create a superstar team. I really hope we don't try to go after some 2016 FA. Go in on 15-16 season, if Dwight looks like he's still a superstar then you resign him and if not then you just let him go and look towards the future and finding Harden another running mate. Have to stop this roster turnover and focus on building a team.
If the Rockets win out... Spurs losing one game would drop them behind the Rockets. They play two young teams in PHX and NOP so it's definitely possible they can lose to either of those teams. Clippers have to lose one game as well. Memphis has to lose two of it's next three. 2nd seed is still possible but the Rockets have to win out, another loss is probably going to lock us into the 6th seed.
I see them struggling with the Pelicans and Davis. also they may lose in Charlotte of all places. Their best chance is 2nd seed to play Dallas
You mean the Rockets right? I could see the Rockets getting the help they need to move up, but then of course losing to the Hornets. Yes, I could see that happening. This is the HOUSTON Rockets after all so if they slip up it will be in the most baffling and disappointing away possible. I could see the Rockets losing to NOP though, I think Charlotte is really banged up and looking towards next year. I think the biggest reason we lost to UTA earlier was at the time we just had no front court depth and Gobert feasted.
I have been saying this for years! Morey appears addicted to constant turnover, which is counterproductive. The Rockets are relatively close to a "pick up" team. We are not far away from "choosing sides" before every game. We are entering the playoffs with two of the best players in the league, but two "forty year olds" for the PG rotation and no effective back up center. Injuries are a factor, but so is "bad planning."
I would rather have players that can make free throws then have to deal with this hack-a-player every season. I'm very surprised Pops had the Spurs of all teams stoop to this strategy...especially when Harden is shooting 5 for 19. It's not real, pro basketball imo. It's not what fans expect to see when they watch. I expect straight up basketball. That said...players who can't make free throws are straight up liabilities and should be avoided because it causes these situations in the first place. To hell with these guys who can't make FTs. It's like the athletes who get a free pass through school. They give you two bonus shots for being fouled...BONUS SHOTS!!! It's not supposed to be mind-numbingly difficult to make them at a decent clip. Losers...they are free throws...not fee throws.
