Even if they did(and I wouldn't hold my breath), they'll have nothing left for the 2nd round. Dallas or Portland could be knocked out in 5 or 6 games and neither team is that physical(Kaman vs. Paul notwithstanding). I want no part of the Spurs right now. I'd even prefer the Warriors over them right now.
People just keep thinking Morey is a dumbass, but they still can not realize the fact that : if Harden will not be in the Rockets, there is zero chance Bev will be the starting PG for this team.
But that's just it. It didn't change. It was there the whole time and the ugly truth of this teams flaws were only veiled. Now that a true title contender has exposed these flaws do we only begin to recognize the truth. And that truth is we are just another pretender. Oh I'll follow the team. Root my ass off. Agonize. Cheer. Scream. Just like you and any true Rocket fan. But the brutal truth we all don't like to talk about but know inside is.... This team isn't good enough. (now go out there are prove me wrong Rockets!)
Who thinks Morey is a dumbass? I am glad he is the Rockets GM. However the weaknesses he hasn't filled are coming back to bite us.
For those looking for a pick me up, I saw this in the Hornets-Hawks recap: G Lance Stephenson (right toe sprain), C Al Jefferson (sore right knee), F Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (left ankle sprain) and F Cody Zeller (sore right shoulder) were held out. Coach Steve Clifford said Stephenson is in "quite a bit of pain." Reportedly, those players may all be done for the year. So Charlotte basically has scrubs playing for them right now(Troy Daniels led them in scoring tonight with 15 for God's sake!). Long story less long, take care of business against the Pelicans on Sunday, don't cough up a gimme at Charlotte the next night(we'll be without Dwight in that one, BTW), and then finish off Utah at home on Wednesday. Winning out really shouldn't be a problem provided they beat New Orleans.
This is scary, if the position stays like this, we will face the spurs on the first round without home court advantage. And we just lost to them 2 games in a row towards the end of season. We surely need to win out and try best to avoid them. The momentum against spurs is not on our side.
If I was a bottom feeding team or a team in a small market like Minny... I'd LOVE Morey, he's great at tuning nothing into something, but can he now take this team and build around the players? It's not about getting superstars but building a team. I think the issue with Morey is he always goes for the homerun. When you are a bottom feeding team or on the mediocrity treadmill then you really have nothing to lose. We took chances on Trob and Twill and struck out but then cost us nothing. If you had Harden and Dwight then, no way you get rid of 2pat and other established players to take flyers on the guys we did. Hopefully we can get Llull and hopefully he can do something for us. The team is going to have to make a decision to go for it next year or hold on to some hope that you can get Durant or someone else the year after...AND THEN build around those guys just the same...
He said the part about the refs are not gonna bail out the rox. The rest of the comments were mine. I said it's about calling a foul. And a foul is a foul. F Adam silver. Thx
Since the Spurs are king of strategies... 1. Game shows how much superior the SPURS Coaching staff is to Houston's. Their advanced scouts knew that all of the Rockets bigs couldnt shoot FT's. So essentially anyone they want to target for this ploy was fair game. Importance of scouting a team well was on full effect tonight. 2. Using a tactic to disrupt their Star's rhythm Brilliant. One way to stop James is to force the ball out of his hand. You could double, but the Spurs are too old to rotate too often...and James is a great passer. NET result: 3rd in division and Home court advantage attained. 3. Actually using the bench to force their opponents to change and adapt to them The Spurs are masters at this. They will make you play the style they want. If the Rockets are expecting hack a whom ever the next game, Pop might vary it up with something else..."consider this a high level mind-f_ck/jedi trick"
Thanks to the Spurs' intentional foul strategy, Josh Smith attempted an incredible 26 free throws in the second half of the Rockets' loss, breaking Michael Jordan's NBA record for the most free throw attempts in a half. Jordan set the record with 23 against the Heat on Dec. 30, 1992.
Can someone tell me all the possible seedings. It's not like this loss guranreed us a 6th seed right?
