This ultimately is on Morey and McHale. Daryl is a very bright man but at some point he has to break through. The Rockets are in bottom 20% of the league in turnovers, free throws and guarding in transition defense. That shows either a complete lack of discipline, poor coaching or a poorly constructed roster. The Rockets came into this season without a back up center.... They ended the season without a back up center. The Rockets had an opportunity to get Dragic, but they didn't want to lose flexibility of Motijunas. What has either done for you? What do the Blazers, Spurs, Mavericks, Warriors, Grizzlies and Clippers have in common? All have been more successful than the Rockets the last 3-4 years. I have had enough of it. The only "good thing" was that the Rockets meltdown against the Spurs was so inevitable that no one is shocked.
I live in Austin and a majority of people are spurs fans Spur fans are like cowboy fans, annoying as ****
Here's another idea for a solution. When a shooting foul occurs the person in the act of shooting shoots the free throws. If the foul occurs off the ball the team that was fouled is allowed to choose who shoots the free throws just like when a technical foul occurs. That would prevent these hack-a-whoever situations from happening.
Poor FT just one of the reasons. Depending on the 3-ball to drop Lack of a second option (see: Very Harden dependent) Not that it's exclusive to them but they are a banged up team. Some of these injuries have forced guys into the starting lineup but what happened to the bench? Maybe they'll get it together but what has gone from a "strength" is....a weakness?
This type of offense is tailor made for Harden. Yes this is a team without any discipline and very high on TOV, but if you want to completely eliminate it, you probably will need to get rid of Harden first. But I do agree on one thing, this roster has a lot of low IQ players, guys like Dorsey first of all is not a NBA level player. And players like Josh Smith, he is good for the Rox overall this season - mainly because of our injuries, but his performance also exactly reflected why he could be toxic for a team.
We can. The Rockets have to win out, but I think there's a very good chance of that. All we need is for the Grizzlies to lose at the Clippers and Warriors or for them to beat the Clippers. I almost want the Grizzlies to win tomorrow night(again, I'm trusting the Rockets to win out) cuz that would give them the division even if they lose at Golden State on Monday. Then it's Spurs vs. Clippers in Round 1 and we get Portland with homecourt.
Seriously, our PG situation is abysmal as is our lack of a back up center. When the rubber meets the road, these problems are just too glaring to overcome. Injuries and bad personnel decisions are at fault. Howard and Harden have to hit all world level for us to get past the first round. They weren't close tonight.
Morey has to know by now that PG is the #1 priority this offseason. On a night like tonight where Harden doesn't have it, that 2nd playmaker is critical. The only problem is his 3 greatest assets in trades this summer(D-Mo, T-Jones, and the NOP pick) are either coming off of injury-riddled seasons or about to lose a lot of value should the Pelicans make the playoffs.
IF that was done to your Spurs your would response would be different. You will get the true verdict when the NBA apology on the non call comes out tomorrow. Third apology this season means 3 Ws instead of Ls.
Give rockets the spurs in the first round. Howard and Harden gonna put these fkcers in a retirement home
Ariza had been playing at his best the last few weeks even though all the focus was on Harden. And you also see some flash from TJ even though he is still not consistent. Dwight is coming back and he is the guy you can count on in the playoff. So Harden is not getting help, he does have lots of help now. He is the guy needs to step up the most in the playoff.
That would be an ideal situation but the Rockets must do their part and win out. McHale needs to play Capela and Johnson more minutes to finish up the season.
Harden would thrive in any offense. Want an offense tailor made for Harden? How about some three point shooters and another playmaker. Harden is the last thing the Rockets need to worry about...
90% of the posts in here are knee jerks, nothing should surprise you. People always over react on most stuff.
There is some truth to this. The Spurs are now like 19-3 in their last 22 and set an NBA record by winning 10 straight by 12 or more points. It has more to do with the Rockets losing because of a lack of execution, unforced errors and missed opportunities.
