b/c we're in a new era where plays are not necessary and coaching doesn't matter. read & react is the cutting edge wave of the future

The reason he didn't sub him out in the 3rd quarter is because he couldn't. Smith is at the line, so he has to stay in the game. McHale needed to call a damn timeout in between possessions and get Jones in for him. By the time he did most of the quarter had passed.

The other reason Smith saw so many minutes despite his horrible foul shooting was because of the restriction on Dwight's playing time. He's obviously not putting Dorsey in and he can't go small with no PF or C, so it's either Dwight, T-Jones, or Smith for his big man rotation.

I think it was a huge mistake to limit Dwight so much in the 3rd quarter. He should've played a couple more minutes. That would've prevented at least some of the hack-a-Josh possessions and also would've kept Duncan from killing us inside.

What you're pretty much saying is McHale got outcoached. Pop made a move and McHale had no answer. Pop playing chess and McHale playing checkers.

I dont understand why people were thinking that Hack a Rocket big was only going to be limited to Josh Smith. If the Rockets countered by bring Dwight back in...The Spurs would hack Howard. They were intent on hacking Dorsey, Josh, Dwight, and in some instances even Jones. The Rockets bigs...were destroyed by Baynes...and 50 year old Tim Duncan.

This is McHale we're talking about. He's a player friend. Not an Xs and Os guy.

This post shows a complete and utter lack of basketball knowledge. You're telling me that when SA got the ball on offense we couldn't just foul them to get Jones in the game?? On top of that the Rockets have been slowly upping Dwight's minutes, why not add 3 more minutes to that. And lastly GO SMALL. If it doesn't work then you adjust and say well I did everything I could let's bring Smith back in.

And who would guard Duncan? We don't know if Dwight is restricted on minutes by the medical staff. You say go small but we got destroyed in the paint again, we only were down by 2 after Smith got subbed out.

Pops gonna out coach everyone.... We are down two players who were big rotation players and the Spurs are 100% healthy.

Tough loss but don't get stupid and forget about context.

I've resigned ourselves to the fact that we will lose in the 1st round. This complete imbecile in our coach is never going to win anything in the league. Money is a dumbass for hiring him and keeping him. I don't care if he trades Jones for Lebron. He keeps Mcfail, he's an idiot plain and simple.

exactly. this is why josh was left in the game. the spurs would've fouled any and every one of our bigs.

leaving smith in there was actually beneficial as it gave him a chance to get into a rhythm at the line. he didn't, but it was the right call.

the only sub i would've made is to get dwight in there with smith. why? because we could have him playing extra minutes of defense without needing to do all that running on his knee since there was no playing offense at that time.

Stop making up BS to fit your agenda of McHale being a good coach

Spurs are without their starting center Splitter

I don't care anymore, lol why did even log back onto this site to have meaningless arguments with idiots over whether Kevin Mchale should be coach when he shows time and time again that he shouldn't. **** it keep Mchale he's a great coach we'll probably win the championship this year all thanks to Kevin Mchale's great coaching.

You're right about splitter, thought he played. Never claimed McHale is a good coach but I blame injuries a lot more than McHale.

No I actually didn't say that. I think it's time to stay off clutchfans though, it's getting old. Beating a deadhorse as they say.

Was I the only one there in the third quarter wondering why McHale didn't go '**** this guy" and immediately start hacking Duncan?

    He was 3-6.

Give Pop his own medicine for god sakes. Not bend over and willingly take it.

This guy is utterly clueless. I'm sure that McHale bandwagon gets a little lighter after each and every game when they finally take their blinders off and realise just how truly pathetic he is on that sideline.
