Good for him. He needs to get his ass in the gym though. Gotta have the right conditioning and body. You're not gonna be successful if you're that fat and slow.

Anyone thinks Morey snatches this guy in the off season for a 10 day contract? For marketing purposes, of course?

If you have been following this guy you'd know he's already practically living in the gym. He is much improved in the last 12 months. If he drops another 30 lbs. and continues to work on a nice budding skill set he could very well carve out a nice career for himself in the NBA. I think he's going to make it. Probably mostly a career back up. But a nice one nonetheless.

Sidenote: This guy has a shot blocking skill that puts him in rare company among big men. Anybody know what it is?

Looks like he doesn't swat his blocks into the stands, rather he "tickles" the ball and keeps it.....

Can he spell 20-25 min a game? If so then he will be able to contribute to some team.

Watched him vs Capella in a couple of D league games...Clint is way ahead of this guy, but he did look like he could help someone.

The fact that, like Yao, he's an all natural giant with both parents possessing the right combination of genetics should not be overlooked. Non-acromegaly giants are rare and have the advantage. He could definitely help out.

He's never going to be prime Arvydas Sabonis lite because even Yao couldn't be that. It's a rare company of guys over 7'3".....

If Kings release him.. I say give him a try. One or two 10 day contracts and we can see how he is.

If anything, pick him up and make him useful in our D-League.... or could be a good body to use during practices for D-Mo and T-Jones and Dwight and Capela?

Can't teach tall. Doesn't have to be athletic to be effective. I'd sign him to come off the bench and clog up the lane.

When you see the other guys who have been 7'5 it just reminds you how good and how freakishly athletic Yao was for his size. What could have been :(

as for Sim - it seems he has a decent amount of skill but his conditioning needs a ton of work. He is still probably at least another 2-3 years away from having a proper NBA body that would allow him to go up and down the court and play at least 20 minutes. Right now the NBA game would be way too fast for him to keep up. If the Kings (or any other team) are serious in his development then they would definitely get him on a program this summer to help him trim the fat he has with muscle. Its not going to happen over the next 5 months of course but will take time. I think playing in the D-League is good for him and will allow the Kings to keep his conditioning on track.

I dont know if he will be any sort of impact player even afterwards but his footwork and touch is really good so one can only hope that improved stamina, conditioning and adding muscle would allow him to become a guy who can come in and score like 6-12pts, get a few rebounds and just shut down the middle of the lane.
