And hold on a second. Didn't you say, "No, it will just not create any more humans." which implies that one of the major reasons for marriage in yours/god's eyes is to procreate? You brought that up, not me, so you're the deviant here, amirite? And you never answered the questions. Are those marriages less valid because they can't make shiny new babies?
Religion at it's best teaches tolerance, acceptance and love. It's concerned with peace of mind and the betterment of the ethical self, not condemnation of others. It attempts to temper the more base instincts with a more cerebral approach. It's that evolutionary drive for self-interest, survival, abundance and procreation that perverts religion: Our instinct is to organize into societies that promote our physical well being and ensure our genetic procreation by grouping into tribes of sameness, even by using religions that teach selflessness to do it. paradoxical ain't it? http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/zohta2/moment-of-zen---that-s-a-topic-for-another-day
Not really picking on SwoLy-D here, just addressing this "natural / not natural" argument that shows up sometimes: <iframe src="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wuppertal_-_Zoo_-_Panthera_leo_01_(1)_ies.webm?embedplayer=yes" width="854" height="480" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe> list
swoly is worried that gays getting married (and not procreating) is going to wipe out the human race. LOL.
Common law by definition involves the government as the government recognizes or enforces the rights and responsibilities of the a couple that is considered in a common law marriage. If government were truly out of marriage it would be handled under contracts. While government would still be involved in enforcing contracts those wouldn't be any different than any other contractual arrangements.
Let's get this straight you don't think it's a big deal behind closed doors yet would deny marriage, and all that it confers in public. If it wasn't just sad this would be laughable. Opponents always seem to bring up the sex acts such as "Gay buttsecks is still gross" when really sex isn't really the issue regarding gay marriage. Other than sodomy laws, which even when they were around were rarely enforced, there is nothing illegal about gay sex. This isn't about sex about things like spousal benefits, inheritance and custody issues. Sex is the least of the issues when we are talking about marriage.
How have you guys not put Swoly-D on your ignore list yet? He is either the most ignorant person alive or one of the greatest trolls I've ever seen on a message board.
^ Just because I don't agree with you, is that it? I have never brought up religion... but I would think NO religion condones two people of the same gender sleeping with each other. And, the fact that I let someone live their life doesn't mean I won't think it's incorrect. BUT... calling the union of two people of the same gender a "marriage" is also incorrect. No, because I know I have a PENIS, which goes into a VAGINA. LOLs @ panda23... that means nothing... g1184, I never said that it doesn't happen... and it also doesn't mean it's right. Who said that? Not me. What, you like stereotypes, man? Well, at least you like name-calling, I can see. I've said my points. And all of you who like to gang up on a proper point, go ahead. Sticking it up the butt is incorrect. It's a one-way street and it's full of sensitive nerves up there, y'all. Don't lie. Can't call it 'marriage', either.
No one remembers actively "choosing to like women", just like no one remembers to actively choose to decide to like their same gender. When you ACT upon that choice is when you decide whether you're right or wrong. You know that getting a schlong up your hiney is bad. REALLY BAD. I can barely poop, man, I would assume it would hurt to get another man's PP up my chute... plus, I'd probably start bleeding from all the burritos and jalapeños that made my anus sensitive. Sorry. I had to get graphic... but I know some people here like it so I'll let them enjoy reading that.
Based on what? The definition of marriage has changed plenty throughout history. We invented marriage and we define what it is.
ಠ__ಠ this ^^^ is the only thing i can assume. sure is fixated on what happens behind closed doors although no one else brings it up. KeanuConspiracy.gif goes here. there. glad i wasn't the only one that noticed.
That's just something bigots say in hopes that people won't think they're bigots. It's like the proverbial "some of my best friends are gay!" comeback. "My Father is gay!" - George Costanza
I can see how you think that. I know plenty about all that, sexuality, terminology, STDs, peer pressure, HIV, etc., and am aware of all that happens around me. I talk openly about things, but personal opinions won't get in the way if I choose to work or be involved in an organization or place that has decided to follow a certain ideal. EDIT: I used to VOLUNTEER at the Montrose clinic: I saw a LOT. A LOT. Did I experience a lot? Nope. Did I mistreat anyone? No. When you want to impose your personal opinions and principles on others at work or at a public place, it's wrong. I don't tell anyone what to do... but if they do anything inside their home, it's something I respect. I was part of a first group of teenagers who did HIV pre-and-post-counseling for testing. We had to deal with much of the first wave of the epidemic. This is how I learned. I helped. There was nothing wrong with helping people.
A little old lady asks the question, 'Is it true Father, that the Bishop said God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve?' and the priest said, 'I'm afraid he did.' to which the little old lady replies, 'Father, may you ask God if he didn't make Adam and Steve, who did?'
I knew when Clutch banned swoly in the hangout he was going to end up here. Christ, now my screen just looks like one big- SwoLy-D This user is on your Ignore List.
The whole being gay is not natural argument is confusing to me. About 4 percent of the population in the US admit to being gay. I imagine there are few gay people that don't admit. That is the same percentage as color blindness and twice that of people with red hair. So if being gay is not natural, then color blindness and having red hair isn't either. For the religion nuts that argue that being gay isn't what god intended, did god make a mistake 4 percent of the time?
