you're being attacked? lol. play the victim role if you'd like swoly. were you banned from the hangout for being an attack victim also? please point out where you were attacked. i said "partner" because it's not legal yet. durr? you're a minority, swoly. but now, in more ways than one. signed, a mexican lover PS... i'll pray for you.
it's truly amazing how quickly sentiment has changed on this. in 2012 no serious presidential candidate endorsed gay marriage -- and now, I've no interest in debating the nay sayers. It's simply a done deal at this point. The debate's been had. The stragglers will come on board in time.
So the ability to procreate is key here for you? I suppose my post-menopausal parents should no longer be able to say they're married then? Wait, my mother had a hysterectomy when I was born due to cancer they found at the time, (no, not me) so she couldn't procreate then either. My paraplegic next-door neighbor should stop using the term too since he doesn't have a penis since the accident juggling chainsaws where he tripped and landed one one that severed his spinal cord, paralyzing him as he watched another saw fall right into his groin region. He nearly bled out, poor b*stard. Anyway, if procreation is one of the key criteria, should marriages involving those types of people be allowed?
BUT think about it this way: if gay people get married and don't procreate then they'll slowly kill off that nasty, unnatural gay gene, amirite? Unless... all the straight people then decided to join in and get gay and gay married too.. Dang this is a tough issue, I'm not sure which way to lean...
Of all the **** in the world to fight over or worry about... Two fruits that love each other and want to have a recognized marriage sure is WAY down the list. Worry about education or genocide, or obesity or the looming pandemic or over population on the earth SWOLY. No one is saying your marriage isn't important or that you have to invite transgendered folks over for Christmas.
With that attitude we will have bestiality marriage in a few years......... Gay buttsecks is still gross
OmegaSupreme, ad hominem doesn't suit you right, man. That was completely different issue and has no bearing on my points here. No, they won't "kill the gene." It's not a "gene." LOLs  Other people will start to believe that's cool and will continue to do that. None of those things or tragedies are chosen by those people. These people choose to act this way and be with the same gender when they know dang well they should not, and that is behind closed doors or in their own house... and that to me is fine. I never said they shouldn't, though it's wrong in my opinion. You are deviating from the point of the beginning of the thread, which is about calling it what it's not. There are other threads for the other "****" in the world. We can discuss those there. Why are we making it personal? I never said anything about them not being able to be together. It's the forcing their union to be a "marriage" when it isn't.
Going by my experiences of mostly being around Blacks and Latinos... I haven't seen a lot of gay folks who have had to hide their sexual orientation and if they do hide they don't have to. That gay bashing and gay discrimination shyt is mostly perpetrated by White males in this country.... Which is probably why more Black folks actually admit they're gay than any other group because that community is more acceptable to it and have a lot more to worry about than people's sexual orientation. Plus many gay Black dudes can fight and will kick your azz. Like I said... Congrats to them but gay minorities are still minorities. And sexual orientation is much easier to hide than color. Progression is different things for different people. But White men with power and money who have been too scared to come out of the closet have been the real hold up for gay rights.
people don't choose to fall in love and share lives together with the same sex out of spite. how can you say those teenagers choose to be gay when they are bullied for being gay to the point that they commit suicide?
Sadly, fallenphoenix, that's a consequence from the nonacceptance from the "bullies." I am not sure what bullying you're talking about, but I will assume that you're talking about other kids who tease them for that lifestyle. That's incorrect. They're not really hurting anyone when they fall in love with other teens of the same gender. However, the suicidal consequence from someone's nonacceptance or tease has no validity in the reasoning to join in a union. AGAIN, that's a different point, man. I am not fighting that they should choose how they want to live. Where did you get that they're doing it "out of spite"...? For whom? No one is becoming or "being born" gay to spite someone else, at least I don't think so. That's their life. Don't know why you bring 'spite' up.
Isn't marriage out of the government... Men and women couples don't have to go to a preacher/minister, whatever or the court house and get the same last name along with a marriage license. Just have to live together and probably share a few bills and you can get the same benefits as a couple who go through the so called traditional steps... Common law right...?
don't minimize the actions of these bullies (no quotations) by calling what they do in these cases of abuse "teasing". this was in response to your assertion that their sexual orientation is a choice. if they "dang well know they should not" be gay, then why do you think they do it if not out of spite? you don't choose to be in a same sex union and start a family because it's trendy.
There are legal aspects of marriage that have to involve the government. For instance, spouse benefits in Healthcare and social security or the ability to make decisions about healthcare when your spouse can not.
Agreed. It's the same idea that makes people fearful of gay people: their minds jump immediately to sex. Swoly, why is any moral status attached to what is natural? Why does it matter if something is natural? Your argument fails on three levels. 1. Being gay is natural. It's found in other species of animals and it isn't something that people choose. Trust me, people wouldn't rationally choose to be a part of an oppressed minority in most cases. 2. Even if it is not natural, why does that matter? Like, why does it matter whether they can procreate? Is marriage just for pro-creation? Given that my girlfriend and I don't want kids even after marriage, should our marriage be invalidated? It's a bizarre stance to take. 3. Why does someone else's marriage affect yours? Why is it that plenty of horrible heterosexual marriages exist without you feeling like the institution is degraded, but homosexual ones would change everything? This is a great time in the history of our country. Young people overwhelmingly support gay marriage regardless of their political beliefs. Future generations of a more accepting society will look back and wonder what took us so long.
The strange irony of this whole situation is that those who opposed gay marriage are just ****ing assholes.
Nature isn't perfect. We see it all around us all the time. Personal choice is an illusion. You didn't choose to be hetero.
Do you remember actively choosing to like women? I don't. If you do, please tell me about it. You'd be literally the first.
