i know... its just frustrating to see your team getting blanked from the onset. It would be nice for the Astros to start off strong, given their recent history and crappy April starts (last winning April was in 2006!). Just want to have a GOOD team to root for. I agree that the offense will find its groove but let's just hope its not before they've dug themselves into an 18-36 hole (like last year)
Astros offense is like the Rockets with the Chicks dig the long ball approach. A bit more balance couldn't possibly hurt?
I think it's funny that the Astros were building their minor leagues the last few years to have players with low K numbers and high OBP. Then they go out and acquire players for the ML roster who are high K guys. It's sort of like how the Rockets built their offense to get 3's and free throws, but then stock the roster with a bunch of guys who are poor shooters and can't hit free throws (except Harden). Makes no sense to me.
Hinch (when asked about the strikeouts): More concerned with not winning the series. Strikeouts are what they are. I'll get asked everyday. We had a chance to win the series and didn't.

The season is still young, he'll come around. Our 3-4-5 hitters (Valbuena, Carter, Gattis) are 0-24 or something, right? Maybe plug Lowrie in the cleanup, so we could get a little more contact higher up in the order.
Anyone else think the lineup should be different? If it were me.... Altuve Lowrie Springer Carter Castro Gattis Valbuena Rasmus Marisnick
If this team were a finished product I would agree Likely it is a deal where they want two or three of the high power high K guys to stick when the lineup has more of the higher on base contact guys here in next year or two I think this current team will be pretty good, but this isn't the final product they are trying to build, not even close
