Hopefully Dwert will be playing 40 minutes a game by the time the playoffs get here .... then you have 56 minutes to split between Smith & Jones .... Dorsey only getting minutes in blowout situations.

You're living in the past. Rules have changed, we can't handcheck, and Pippin ain't walking through that door. We will not win a championship without changing out Dorsey for an upgrade. We'd gotta have more size and Sr can't afford to run Dorsey out there for our playoff opponents to stick on the free throw line. James and Dwight need more than 28% free throw shooting and 3 bigs that average 6'9" 250 lbs.

    Welcome to 2015.

What does Pippen and handchecking have to do with a backup center that plays 15 minutes a night max?

If its about the backup center having size that you seem to be worried about then I don't understand that. The best team in the league, the Warriors' backup center in alot of lineups is Dramond Green. However they are still an awesome defensive team with that unit.

I am living in 2015. The year of the SmallBall.

Hell, in 2012 the Heat's backup center was Joel Anthony. Those guys aren't the concern. Its Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. The Rockets version of Wade and Bosh is Dwight, Josh Smith, Ariza, and Terrence Jones.

You are right though about one thing... The Bulls had Pippen, and they also had Rodman. The Rockets have guys like Ariza, Josh Smith, Terrence Jones, etc. The core support guys around Harden and Howard... are they good enough? I dont know.

They aren't Pippen but they need to step up their game. Jones and Josh Smith need to play well. That's more important than this teams version of Bill Wennington or DJ Mjbenga.

Dorsey (Like Wennington) come playoff time is a very, very insignificant part of this team. Josh Smith, and Terrence Jones (like Rodman and Kukoc) however... that's where the importance lies when Dwight is out of the game.

Those that say we should stick with Dorsey CLEARLY don't see the bigger picture. If McGee plays 10-15 minutes for us, while giving us adequate rim protection, rebounds & 2-3 dunks, he's contributed more than Dorsey ever will

Hate to rain on your parade, but Bill Wennington was a much better player than Dorsey and hit free throws when needed. Should Dorsey see any extended length of time in the playoffs, we are toast.

forget him its too late to get him in the flow of things anyway. we got capella who will hopefully see some burn with all the injuries piling up AGAIN!@!!! capalla and dorsey are good enough. dwight, jones and smith are good enough to use up all of the pf/c minutes, maybe kostas can get some burn at the 4, i think he should with all the injuries. smith can play some sf too in big lineups. dorsey and capella should get spot minutes only

mcgee would've been a good add a month ago so he'd have plenty of time to get used to the team but now its too late

Yes Wennington, Mjbenga, and Joel Anthony years ago were significantly better than Dorsey. Dorsey might be one of the worst NBA players of the past decade.

That being said, my point is nobody is talking about Wennington, or Mjbenga being the key to their teams winning titles. They barely played in the playoffs and were mostly a non-factor as the backup 5 typically is in the playoffs unless you have Alonzo Mourning on your team like the 06 Heat did.

If Josh Smith, and Jones are playing the way they should be playing in the playoffs alongside Howard, and the perimeter defense from Terry/Prigioni isn't allowing a layup line to the rim, then there shouldn't be any reason to play Dorsey at all, much less maybe 5 to 10 minutes in spurts when Dwight needs a break.

At this point, Rockets just need to give Capela more minutes, that means more length, more rim protection & more offense at 5, plus fewer minutes for Dorsey.

Same goes for Nick and KJ. Rockets need to give Harden, Ariza and especially Terry more rest. We can't afford either of those guys to burn out or worse, get injured due to fatigue, as we approach postseason.

So Capela catches a few alley hoops and now we don't need McGee? Um, yea

I SOOO wanted mcgee 2 months ago, its just too late now...he wont crack the playoff rotation. We all know he's not the sharpest crayon in the box it would take him at least a month to get acclimated to the system, IF he's been staying in shape. I cant stand dorsey, but at this point I think its best to just let it be. Capela can provide what mcgee can or close to it. The only way I can see us getting mcgee is if we got some kind of injured player exception for bev or dmo if thats possible. I scowered the net to see if there was a deadline to get get an injured player exception and never found an answer. If we had only traded for mo williams cut dorsey and picked up mcgee I would feel soooo much better about the playoffs. Rockets had an amazing year, but it seems we couldn't beat the injury curse. What a year...I just hope harden wins MVP and NO misses the playoffs and please basketball gods NO MORE INJURIES whatever else happens is just the hand we are dealt. I would still like mcgee as a backup, I just dont see it happening this year, I have no doubt dorsey is a gonner in the offseason. Realistically though mcgee would not improve us that much or really even help us win a series he is an upgrade over dorsey though no matter what people think just not enough to matter at this point.

McGee may be a low IQ guy but his athleticism and ability to rebound and block shots are head and shoulders above Dorsey. Oh, and he may not be a good FT shooter but at 67% it's much better than Dorsey's 23% and Howard's 52%.
