I agree. They even have to maintain composure if they're in the right and the cop is in the wrong.

White folks who resist arrest, run from the police, or cuss police out are more likely to be apprehended without being murdered than Black folks. That's not a presumption... It's a fact.

I'd like to see your data on that. However, even if it happens to be true it merely hammers home just how unbelievably stupid it is to fight with cops and resist arrest if you are a black man (and IMO anyone).

Actual murder by cops is incredibly rare which is why IMO it should be dealt with harshly. It simply cannot be tolerated.

Serious question. Are black officers more likely to kill black suspects?

I suspect the answer is still yes, and if that is the case, why do you think that is?

    Hm.

I'm inclined to ask why that presumption of racism still exists and persists...

...but that would go back to my whole "...sanctity of the institution..." spiel I blathered out earlier....

...and if the witness who captured this thing is to be believed, he noticed that both the officer and "...criminal..." were in a struggle on the ground before he started filming anything.

Won't take much for a good defense attorney (who I understand has already leapt into this) to parlay this thing into a manslaughter charge, based again on the badge of the officer and the job that officer has to do.

And again, the dumb ni99er who's got a criminal past and went so far as to assault a police officer during a routine traffic stop. The officer produces a bruise or a cut or any type of boo-boo, and all bets are off.

You know what? I'll be honest with you for once, 'cuz I like you.

I kinda admire your desire to put this whole racism thing behind us. I do. Really. More than you know. Doesn't fit the marching orders I get from Al Sharpton...but still...

...we do have a black president...well, a half-black-secret-Muslim-anti-Israel-Dr. Evil world-threatening-cartoon-characterish President...but what are you gonna do...?

...seems that these "racist" undertones should be things of our past...

...but any process, unfortunately, does mean that we have to go through point B in order to get to point C...if we're all supposed to be starting from point A.

And our institutions have been rife with those undertones for a lot longer than your desire (and mine, honestly) to be done with them will accommodate, unfortunately.

If the idea is that the dumb white men who the police shoot down should get equal screen time with the dumb ni99ers...then unfortunately we're going to have to accept the fact that being a dumb ni99er can't be enough of a reason for police officers to shoot them. Because that's got to mean that being dumb and white isn't the sole reason why that white guy got shot either.

Equal protection under the law. Or something like that.

Perception, it seems, like possession, is 9/10 of the law. And that's why we do have to be just as careful, in my opinion about what we dismiss as race-baiting and what we defend as "legal".

By the way, let me know when you get that story of that cop who shot that white guy down after a botched non-compliant traffic stop and we can call it even...

    ..I really do care....

I agree with you Bobby. Black folks need to remember what color they are when dealing with the police.

And murder by cops is not rare in this country. Cops murder more people here than people chop of heads in Saudi Arabia.

It's possible... Because once you put that uniform on you're part of the club. You see in the video a black cop was lying about what happened too. That's what you call a house negro.

If that's not sarcasm I find that statement really hard to believe.

Note that I said "actual murder", not kill. There's a huge difference. I'm sure they happen, but they are few and far between. When a cop shoots someone who is assaulting him, or someone dies as a result of being handcuffed while extremely fat....that's not murder.

In this case a man was shot while simply running away, he wasn't a danger to the public so there's absolutely no excuse in the officer shooting him because he was too lazy to give chase.

You learned it quickly. That's smart. Unfortunately there are large segments of the population here that would rather act tough, resist or otherwise not comply with police officers' requests. That's a recipe for disaster.

I would add that Germans, on average, respect the rule of law and authority. Especially when compared to some of America's various groups of people.

I'm absolutely not a racist. I don't care if you WANT me to be one, so you can fit it to the narrative you want to portray, but I'm far from a racist.

You just want to be part of the race-card tossing lynch mob.

Use your search engine to see how many heads were cut off in Saudi Arabia in 2014 compared to police killing people in the streets in America and see how sarcastic I am. The numbers are startling. That's one of the reasons other countries talk shyt about America when Americans complain about human rights in other countries.

You didn't say police killings, you said police murders. In no way are those the same thing. Find the numbers on police "murders" in 2014, compare that to the 60 or so beheadings in Saudi Arabia in 2014.

I appreciate your response. It is a complicated issue. I have to work with a number of cops because of my job, and I am not going to pretend that they all are wonderful people. I have noticed that that many cops, regardless of the color of the cop; are not exactly excited to work in an area that is predominately black. It is a sensitive topic to discuss with officers; but when I have had the opportunity all I get is that it is more dangerous, more crazy in black areas of town and that I don't understand because I don't work their beat.

The South Carolina cop committed murder, that man was not even running quickly from him and he emptied 8 bullets at him; which could have also hit kids in the area or anyone else.

...and not to butt in here between you two or anything....

...but some of what Remii might be touching on was part of a larger concern in the case we were all talking about...the conduct of police officers after the fact of one of these "...murders..." or "...killings..."

..the officer who arrived on the scene may have been complicit in at least helping to corroborate a fabricated story about this whole thing to protect his fellow officer...

...which can understandably cast doubt on any departmental statistics offered about what is a "justifiable" killing or a "murder" by police officers...

...again, eroding a fragile trust between civil servant and civilian that doesn't need any more fraying by mincing words and dissembling rhetoric.

If we want to get caught up playing a "GOTCHA!" game about "stats", we won't really address some of the other, more important issues with criminal justice that we need to address...

Potato Patoto... The police have only been reporting around 300-500 shootings a year when the number is actually over 900 a year. If all of the shootings are legit why are they lying about the number of people they shoot  60 isn't shyt compared to that.

And seeing how these cops are caught lying on tape and the cover up by the police department before the tape came out. Only a fool would believe that was the 1st time police have done that.

That's 100% speculation with no real basis. Sorry but I dismiss that entirely. Is it possible that some shootings that were called "good shootings" were actually not good shootings? Sure, but unless you have something legitimate to base a claim that there are more than 4 or 5 police "murders" per month, it's just not going to fly with me.

I don't believe that this is the first time a cop has lied, but I'm not going to assume that there are hundreds and thousands of these types of incidents simply because I finally found one that fit my narrative....

I know how excited some are now that they finally have a case that fits the narrative that they wished the Furguson case and the fat guy in NY fit, but let's not go full on tin foil hat yet.
