I really don't care what anyone says. You can't let a guy shoot 70 something %, if they were all contested 3s then I guess whatever...but they were layups and open 2s. Dude really shot over 70% and that's not okay in any form. Especially when it's on layups. What's worse is he didn't even touch the court today, he just as you said had a layup drill on this team.
tomorrow they'll report the cut got infected, temporarily blinding him and his nose developed a rare disease that prevents him from sneezing properly--rendering him out for the rest of the season
WHYY Harden was getting to the rack the entire first half and was getting the calls and then settled for jumpshots in the second half? Its like McHale told him to stay outta the lane. Just wanted to point that out.
I would never say it prior to a game, but I really didn't expect us to win this one. SA is brutal at home, their crowd is great, they have a great coach, and they're the defending champions. A win would have been epic because we would have needed an epic game to pull one off. Those games don't grow on trees. If we lose Friday, then I'm going to be worried. We should be able to beat the Spurs in Houston.
I have a hard time saying anybody "should beat the Spurs", but a loss on Friday ruins us. It's a true must-win in every sense.
I agree as well but after the 1st quarter, the team just looked lost, it was pretty bad. There was no effort, just shooting contested threes and nothing was flowing at all. I agree that a win on Friday makes up for it all, but still, it wasn't pretty.
Maybe. Grizzlies have 4 tough games left, they could lose every single one of those games. We may lose the 2nd seed but the Spurs may move up and we'll have the 3rd seed.
Dmo announced out for the season, in San antonio, Joey Crawford, Mchale is our coach, Dorsey is still alive... A lot of things went wrong for us tonight.... We didn't stand a chance
Let's be real. It's a must win. No doubt about it. The Grizzlies could lose all 4 of their games, but are we really thinking they will? C'mon now. They have the tiebreaker over us and back to back losses to the Spurs to drop that far in the standings would be demoralizing for the team. They absolutely must win Friday.
Why didn't harden to continue to drive the lane like he did all the first half? he was getting calls and he just stopped doing so in the second half and just took jumpshots. Dwight played really well so thats a solid.
I think Friday's game is a must win regardless of how we want to position ourselves for the playoffs. Losing two in a row against the Spurs will be soul destroying.
This loss shouldn't be that surprising to anyone. The difference between the Spurs and the Rockets is a general level of competence. What I mean by that is that if you take the Rockets at their best and the Spurs at their best, the Rockets can keep up with the Spurs. However, the Rockets are rarely at their best for an entire 48 minutes, whereas the Spurs can put a complete game on the floor for 48 minutes even when they're not at their best. And when they're at their best... you find yourself on the bad end of the 2014 play off beat down. This is what separates the Spurs from everyone else... they've drilled their fundamentals and system of play into the minds of their players from 1 to 15 so ruthlessly that everyone knows exactly what they need to do on both ends of the floor almost every minute of the game. Toss on that every man on the roster can pass, score, and plays defense and they're still the team to beat as far as I can tell. Meanwhile the Rockets get flustered, lose track of assignments, lose focus for stretches, and get frustrated by breakdowns in their offense and defense. Combine all of that with the best Coach in the NBA and there is no room for error when you play the Spurs. Unless you believe that the entire Spurs team is going to be having an off shooting night for multiple game or that Pops is going to suffer an aneurysm mid-game they are probably the worst team in the NBA to face in the play offs. Could the Rockets beat the Spurs in the play offs? It's far from impossible. There's enough talent on the team as far as scoring, and there are still multiple players who are capable of defense. However, it would take an epic performance by the Rockets to win the series, whereas the Spurs just need to be the Spurs to beat the Rockets on a typical night. And if Harden doesn't play at his potential in the play offs? Then the Rockets can pretty much kiss any chance of beating the Spurs good bye.
We won't get swept but we'll be out in the first again which further advances the narrative that Harden sucks in the playoffs.
