Tell me why you think this team can win in the playoffs.

Yeah, totally unbiased not knee jerk at all facts

you people act like DMo just got hurt today. We've been playing fine without him, it hurts but it doesn't kill us. We got to 52 wins with a really unhealthy roster. We'll have a (hopefully) nearly 100% Dwight playing full minutes in the playoffs which will make a big difference. We got beat by a red hot Spurs team once, its not the end of the freaking world dude

    No way huh?

Guess they should not even show up then... Because you know... Why play a game where anything can happen?

At least reasons were provided for WHY Houston will probably lose int he first round. There is little offensive chemistry on this Rockets team, a lot of it due to injury and lack of playing together, but a blowout this close to the playoffs?

These aren't things that can just be corrected overnight -- or in last year's case, waiting until game 3 to make adjustments was too late.

Hell the postseason hasn't started yet so how can you say that with such confidence? I'm not about to panic over 1 loss on the road to the hottest team in basketball. That team just smoked a 63 win warriors team as well. Rockets will be fine.

Based on a very limited sample size and doesn't take into account that he's elevated his game further this season.

We have a losing record against playoff teams, but we lead the NBA in winning percentage against teams below .500 THis Team Is very good at handling its business, but they just dont have the talent and system and rotations to win in the playoffs!!

    They've proven that all year.

There is not a reaction strong enough for the stupidity of this thread.

Give it 24 hours at least. Process your emotions.

I'm sure OP will say this thread is built off of years of sample size, but the timing is very suspicious.

The world will keep spinning! It's gonna be OK.

Look at our record against playoff teams. Now look at our point guard rotation. Now look at the other Western point guards.

Look at our point differential man, we have been incredible in games decided by 5 points or less, but come playoff time the intensity will be higher, and the opponent will know us better.

Our poor free throw shooting, and our over reliance on Harden will be taken advantage of. Then who steps up for us? Who?

Whats even the point of being a fan if you are gonna be this negative? That can't be fun. I'm pretty proud of this team for how well they've played despite a ridiculous amount of injuries and I'm pretty hopeful considering we have the (should be) MVP and will be having a full Dwight back by the playoffs (who has been playing very good in his limited time, even look at tonight, 16 points and 11 rebounds in only 22 minutes). In fact I really think getting a full Dwight will really really help this team.

Rockets will lose in the first round?

Anyone with common sense knows the mavs are the only team that rockets can beat.

This is the problem with the rox. The regular season is a facade. The rockets don't have another gear. This is the type of defense they are going to see in the playoffs. Teams are geared up to guard the three and take away the paint. So what opens it up is a midrange 2. Statistics does not believe in those shots.

I hope people understand that outside of the 8th spot in the West, there won't be any gimmes anywhere. Every team in the Top 7 not only expects to get out of the first round, but had championship aspirations this season. And in fact, you could say the Thunder came in with those same expectations, but injuries completely derailed them.

That's how good the West is.

So when people say the Rockets will lose in the first round, that's not the insult it would have been years ago. The West is completely stacked.

I think the Rockets are going to win in the first round, but there's no easy out here.

I agree with this, but of all the NBA playoff teams I think the Rockets have more critical flaws than any team besides the Mavericks and the Thunder.

Actually, you make some really valid points about the weaknesses. Losing DMO was HUGE in terms of not having another low-post threat. He's been rock solid for most of the season, especially against the likes of playoff contending teams like the Clippers, Blazers, Spurs, and Thunder. Defensively he's a solid, not great but solid rebounder and a guy that clogs the lane. Tonight the Spurs were just dribbling right past our players for easy lay-ups, particularly when Dwight was out of the lineup.

The FT shooting, as you pointed out, between Dwight, Dorsey, Smith, and Capela is beyond bad. We saw tonight that Pops recognized just how bad and started fouling Dwight in the 3rd quarter of the game. Yes, it will come back to bite the Rockets come playoff time.

At this point I'd just assume McKale roll the dice by playing Johnson at the point and Capela as backup center. Capela can at least throw it down off of p-n-r plays and defend the post with his shot-blocking ability. Johnson is still a work in progress as a rookie but he shows much more promise as a defender than Prigs. I think it's time to play Johnson at PG and let Terry play his natural position as a catch-n-shoot guy. That's what he does best. Plus, when Johnson gets an open lane he has the hops to get to the rim. Some of his throw-downs are really exciting to watch... much more exciting than watching a 37-year-old aging PG dribble around the court looking to pass the ball with almost no scoring threat.
