I don't think those are comparable situations. I have a hard time thinking of anyone who wanted to keep Joey over Tarik at the time we picked up Josh. From just a pure player perspective, that is -- I don't know enough about the CBA and cap space and all that to know how waiving Joey/keeping his salary on the books for next year would've hamstrung us going forward.
Leave it to McHale to deliver the dagger. I actually like his hardcore approach to delivering bad news. Just hit me with it, dammit.
So, with DMo out the rest of the season, what we have in DMo is basically 1 more season, 1 more playoff run before he and Terrence Jones both become restricted free agents and the team will likely need to choose between the two. Folks were worried about only gettign 1 playoff run out of Goran Dragic. But DMo's "window" as a Rocket, like many players' windows, may end up being just 1 more playoff run also. Right now, DMo plus a mid/late 1st round pick or whatever for 1 shot at the title with a guy who fits all the needs looks pretty good even if Dragic is at great risk of not resigning.
Joey has done OK lately. The difference between Tarik and Joey pales in comparison to the loss of DMO.
Just pointing out another reason why losing DMo is such a big blow, that's all. Anything that requires you to play a guy shooting ~20% from the line more than just spot/desperation minutes in the postseason is a huge loss. Anyway, I wonder if we ever get the real story on this. Probably not.
have the 3rd best record in the nba without jones and dwight for most of the season. we get them back and lose dmo and everyone thinks our chances of playoff success are done?! it sucks that we won't be 100% at all this season, but we still have enough talent to be the 3rd best team in the league. we should be ok without dmo as long as we have jones, dwight, and josh.
won't play for months? wow that's terrible news. He looked able to run on the treadmill in the photo so at least the nerves probably aren't affected.
i doubt it happened over one rebound. Watch how he boxes out or tries to keep his position. He hyperextends his back.
I was thinking the same thing to but dmo provides a low post scoring threat in the half court and thats very important to have when the game slows down in the playoffs. That's what made our front court so formidable.
Dmo gets hurt and of course Carl "Captain Hindsight" Herrera is rubbing it in about not going after a player that didn't even want to be here. Pathetic.
Right, bc when all else fails FIND A SCAPEGOAT and POINT FINGERS. You people are ridiculous. Edit: oh ya don't forget REVISIT ALL POSSIBLE F.O. MOVES WITH THE GLORY OF HINDSIGHT.
Yeah, I wonder that too. Back to Joey, I think he would anyways play some minutes to shore up our defense and rebounding if we were to play Portland. I am not too worried about him being hacked b/c he probably would not play critical minutes at the end of quarters either by way of rotation or by the gravity of the situation.
