I think KlutchGirl nailed it. It's their deciding the treatment plan:surgery or time. That's what that tweet is about. As far as playing, he is done. The door is closed.
No, don't work for the Organisation...but you never know what the future holds. But Don't count DMo out just yet...that's all I'm saying.
Hope he can be back miraculously. But remember how the Yao's injury was handled. In and out, and then all of sudden he is done for his career. Hope for the best for DMO, he should fully heal before steps back on to the court.
there goes our depth, one of the main reasons rockets are contenders. arguably the best pf/c rotation.
Black or Dorsey will not fill the hole left by DMO. We are talking about lost post presence, occasional 3s when you need them, and decent free throws. DMO's length on those old geezer like Dirk and Duncan will also be missed. I see Smith's minutes will increase significantly.
I agree that we're missing some info here. I'm not sure they ever said they believed he'd heal in 1-2 weeks though. They just said he would be out that long. I actually was surprised, when they put that out there so quickly. That was the first sign that it was serious. You don't jump to that conclusion over back soreness. That could be gone in as little as 1-2 days. Maybe you say 5 days to be cautious, but 2 weeks? That's extended rest/treatment. So i think they knew it was serious then, but hoped for the best case scenario. Dmo was just being Dmo and being optimistic, thinking he'd work hard and get back soon. With Bev it's just easier to consider playing him like that or rushing him back post surgery because of the location of the injury. That's probably why they floated the idea of bringing him back in 2 months. With a back issue though, it can potentially affect overall movement so much, that you can be practically useless out there. No sense in risking it now or rushing recovery.
True... but between Howard/Smith/D-mo/Jones.... and Dorsey when we play other bigs, somebody was going to get the short-end of the minutes. There was never a time where all these players were healthy at the same time... so its truly an "unknown" as to what the rotation would have been.
I think the issue is that Dorsey's salary is guaranteed through next season and Tarik's was not. Anyway, the fact that Tarik is shooting 55% from the line makes me more than a little wistful. I've come around to actually liking Joey, but the hackability appeal is high with that one.
If we play Portland or Dallas in the first round, which is very likely, losing DMO might not be that huge of a impact to us. But, in order to go far, we need DMO, no question about it.
Yeah, nobody is filling the hole he left at PF. But we're also losing him at backup C -- and I kinda think Tarik would be a less scary option there in the postseason than Joey is, just based on FT shooting alone.
dorsey would only get spot minutes and one of the backup bigs would've gotten the short end. but since 3 of them can make threes they can play some sf depending matchups, smith or jones.
Ever had back problems? It's a sensitive area to force into action, once it's acting up. We're not talking about an ankle here. the painkillers may take the pain away, but the body will still look out for itself, meaning it can lock up, if it feels there's risk of injury to the spine.
Well, hindsight is 20/20. Why not also revisit the Dragic situation? I think Phoenix would have pulled the trigger.
From what we've seen, there's no reason why teams shouldn't just hack him out of the rotation every time. You can see his confidence melting away with every FT attempt, after a hack.
