Is there a record for how many "What could of been" seasons? Might notch this one up there but I'm holding on since we have the Beard.
This honestly should have been posted on April Fools - that's what it feels like. Got into work this morning and this is the first thread I see. Absolutely unbelievable. Our far and away best offensive player is done, and now we get to go back to Dwight's 33% success rate of post ups. (no knock on Dwight... just devastated we've lost D-Mo) You know none of these injuries are going to even be mentioned when ESPN are laying on their onslaught on the Rockets and James 'fail in the Playoffs' Harden. *****. I'm quiet upset now.
If it's that simple, then why wasn't Motiejunas ruled out for the season the moment he was diagnosed with a back injury? Why was the timetable 1-to-2 weeks? You don't go from 1-to-2 weeks to 3+ months overnight. That's the curious part. It's not about rushing or pushing the recovery. It's about what the specific injury and recovery process entails. With Bev, it came down to the specifics of the procedure and exactly what had to be done in there. With D-Mo, it's probably the same thing -- they got some new information and realized the problem was much more severe than they previously thought. Back injuries are no joke -- I'm with you there. I'm just questioning the official party line. If the initial medical belief was that the back injury was minor enough to heal on its own with 1-to-2 weeks of rest, it's quite a leap to then automatically make it a 3+ month situation. Maybe setback isn't the right word, but I don't think it's as simple as the picture being painted. Something changed besides D-Mo still having some soreness.
At this rate, the Rockets, NOT the Mavs, will be the team teams hope to play in the playoffs. Of course we're not talking Harden or Howard [being out] but still...
Is this post sarcastic? You mean the spacing he creates won't be missed by James? Because D-Mo's defender isn't as occupied with one of the best post moves in the NBA? You mean the best passing big man out of the post won't be missed by the likes of Ariza and Brewer with their cuts and D-Mo's nifty passes? You mean we won't miss 30 minutes of our tallest player? You mean to tell me you look at D-Mo and think 12 points that's all he contributes. EASY REPLACED HUR DERR!!!! Of course I am not implying that with Harden - I am saying that's what is going to be inferred by the sports writers.
Devastated for both the team and DMo. Most improved player of the year who's done a hell of a lot to get us to the position we are in today as we dealt with so many injuries to our big men. Just hope Jones and Howard can play to the level we know they both can play. And unfortunately it means more time for 'hack a Dorsey'.
Posted yesterday. @DonatasMot: Working hard, trying to get back as soon as possible #Rockets #RedNation http://t.co/s8MaqQAtoJ
I'm guessing he is referring to your reference to DMo as "far and away our best offensive player" -- a designation 99.99999999% would reserve for James Harden.
not going to punish myself by reading all the pages in this thread and i'm sure someone else has said this: first of all, get well d-mo, we all want you to get 100% healthy and back into action as soon as you can. but. as long as jones, smith, and of course dwight can remain healthy and productive, i like our chances. d-mo was the weakest rebounder of the three and if dwight uses his defensive prowess as his #1 option, it will free up jones and smith to get to the rim. smith is a wonderful playmaker when he's doing it right. d-mo was HUGE for us and kept us afloat in the regular season. thanks big fella. but no need to throw in the towel yet. i'm way more than optimistic.
it's funny - if you told me at the beginning of the season, "You guys are going to ride into the playoffs fighting for 2nd seed. You'll be out Pat and DMo but you'll have added Josh Smith and Corey Brewer (and some old guy named Prigioni)" i'd have happily taken that deal. Yet now, i has a sad There will be more injuries to come, hopefully to other teams. i'm waiting (Note* Not Hoping) for someone on Golden State to go down - it's just the law of averages. We lost two valuable contributors but it looks like we'll go into the playoffs with our two stars more or less healthy. That's really all you can ask for in the NBA.
