We did just beat the Pelicans/Mavs/Thunder on the road recently without DMo. So there's at least hope. Tonight's game will really define our playoff expectations.
Feigen said he was fine, got some treatment after it started acting up, but didn't seem like anything significant.
Yes, they can as long as they are signed by April 15th and they haven't been on another NBA roster on or after March 1. It is in regards to winning a championship. He'll have to be replaced. Sorry, Smith and Jones are different players. Neither can give us what DMo gave us. Yup. Another reason we've got to make Dorsey a coach, talk him out of his guaranteed money for next season, and replace him on the roster. Unless.......we find another guy on the basketball scrap heap that can bring us what we need. Possibly not if we waive Dorsey and bring in a big that can shoot free throws, can hit jump shots, and can board and defend as a backup big. Any guesses? Mcgee? Blatche? Need to check Europe for free agent big men who are out of the Final Four. I'm thinking Morey has to be checking on Blatche and others. We're too close. Can't let this opportunity slip by and play it out with guys that are going to be an obvious liability in the playoffs. Gotta go for it.
ARE YOU REALLY SAYING THIS RIGHT NOW!?!?!?!? REALLY?!!?!?!?!?!?! DID T JONES NOT JUST MISS HALF THE SEASON AND HAD A RECENT SETBACK HISSELF?! COME ONE FAM COME ON
At this point, it's not really infuriating anymore to lose a player for the rest of the season. For the last 10 years, we've seen countless number of guys go down for this team. I almost kind of expect it to happen now. Blazers and Rockets are the most cursed franchises in the NBA. It's not even close.
Unfortunately our owner thinks making the playoffs is a successful season, so he isn't concerned with all the phantom injuries that have plagued our team this year as long as he gets 2 more home games. DMo's last game was a good one, didnt he go for like 18pts with no sign of pain? Then all of a sudden hes out of the lineup, we all assumed he was getting a break, mainly because the rockets organization sucks at communication and never gave us any real insight into his injury, and now all of a sudden hes out for the year. Its difficult to keep a positive attitude with everything that has happened this year, but we are #2 in the west with the fewest games played by a starting 5 being together and the most games missed by rotation players due to injury. I still firmly believe if we don't make the second round this season is a failure. We are still deep but DMo will be missed.
This is a HUGE loss for us. Whenever our offense was bad, we could always rely on Dmo and calm things down by throwing it into him to score. Without him we lose a reliable part of our offense. God please help us.
Wow this really sucks. I still think we could win it but it's going to take Dwight playing like a superstar and Harden to do that. Thankfully we have Jones and Smith.
I'm admittedly grasping at straws here, but I wonder if there's still a 1% chance that Motiejunas isn't done. This entire thing is so strange. We never saw the injury. In his last game, he allegedly played through it in New Orleans to the tune of 21 points on 10-of-16 shooting in 37 minutes. Had minor treatment following the game. They said he'd be shut down a week or two to rest. Now, after just 12 days, there have been "no setbacks" -- just continued soreness that hasn't improved -- and yet they're certain he can't play for at least the next 2+ months?!? Literally 24 hours ago, D-Mo seemed optimistic on Twitter that he was working to come back soon. Something's not adding up. The most likely scenario, of course, is that the Rockets got some new information that they aren't telling us -- an MRI, a second opinion, something along those lines. But I do keep coming back to this. On Beverley, the Rockets officially ruled him out for the season last Monday. However, after Beverley had the surgery on Tuesday, we found out this from Woj: Makes me wonder if there's any hope of that with Motiejunas -- i.e. that they're saying he's done for the year because it appears likely and want the team to move on without him, but still holding some internal hope of a recovery after another month or so. Because if we take their word at face value and there hasn't been a setback or new information -- then this makes very little sense. If you don't know that surgery is necessary and your initial medical belief was that the injury would improve through rest, then who's to say it can't get better in 4-to-6 weeks or so? Again, it's only been 12 days. Of course, I know I'm probably reaching here. The far-and-away likely scenario is that there IS new information or has been a setback, and we just don't have the details yet. But at face value, this is really perplexing.
What is the official injury?? These stories say out for season but give no reason besides an ailment. Wtf?
Holy ****! What???? I...I...I just.... I mean, what if we go on a long playoff run? How can it go from 10 days or whatever to several months?
Yeah, not the same thing. Back injury risk > wrist injury risk. It's a lot more likely that a wrist recovery can be rushed/pushed, but the back, not so much.
