I would not be a bit surprised if Prigs won us a playoff game by catching and stepping into midrange and nailing a jumper at the buzzer. That's exactly the kind of player he is.

Haven't been too impressed with him, but Morey's gamble on Bev's health (or lack thereof) payed off.

But, he would not be playing if Beverley were healthy.

And that's why Bev's injury is a good thing for this team.

Prigs is a smart PG that makes good decisions. He makes his layups in the paint, doesn't over dribble inside and outside of the paint (not gonna mention names), and I'm glad Morey made this move before the trade deadline. Maybe we get truly lucky and Scola comes back next year because he loves playing with Prigs

He has a calming effect on the offensive end, and he is a good rebounder.
His shot will come around as he gets into shape.

You keep repeating this, and it sounds ridiculous every time.

I literally have said it twice that I can remember. You may need to rethink the 'keep repeating' part.

But let's see what Beverley does.

    Good defense? No. Not anymore.

Good shooting? No. Comes and goes.

Is not a good fluent PG? Yes.

Doesn't run an offense properly? Yes.

Is only a starter because his 'skillset' (his defense of yesteryear) fit well with James Harden? Yes

Now what's this teams biggest weakness?

Low IQ, huge lulls in offense when Harden isn't playing, subpar perimeter shooting now and again.

What does Prigs bring to the table?

Well first of all he basically eradicates A LOT of the disgusting turnovers which make us ALL scream and pull our hair. So that alone is huge.

Second, he has a high IQ which is only going to come up big in the Playoffs to offset McHale's lack of.

He is a 37 year old career 41% shooter. I'll gladly take that over a bad stretch to his start in Houston.

But let me put it this way. With the game on the line and god forbid James Harden isn't in for the final seconds - would you want Patrick Beverley bringing the ball up or would you want Prigioni?

If you answered Beverley..... Then they haven't even made words for describing that.

Now on the other end if we're trying to get a stop on the last possession do you want Beverley or Prigioni? The answer is none of them. Beverley has constantly been a turn-style on defense this year to the point of it being laughable.

Oh, another set Beverley has pressed up at the halfway mark on the opposing ballhandler's chest, only to be blown right past causing the rest of the team to collapse to cover up the wide open top of the key. Oh another open 3 for the opposition. Thanks Beverley. MUMMA THERE GO THAT MAN. M. Jackson was actually ahead of his time. That call should be used every time Beverley tries to pressure the ball.

You have Ariza and Beverley for defense. So now with his best skillset void. What does he bring to the table?

Prigioni's best skillset is actually one of the areas which will (would have) sink (sunk) this team in the Playoffs.

So I understand if you don't see it now because you're too stuck in your ways. But you will.

And I'll remind you how ridiculous your post was.

EDIT: damn, just saw your signature.
If only we had rookie Beverley who didn't go the whole Chandler 'offense makes dollars so goodbye defense' Parsons route hey. Man we could've really used that Beverley this year.

Bev being out is a good thing. Dude is a detriment playing so many minutes. Not his fault. He was just played too much.

I can't believe how bad Prigs shot has looked. I keep saying it will come around but I'm becoming skeptical. He is shooting 24%, and a lot of them aren't close. He's a 40% career shooter, it's very strange to see.

Even without the jumper he's a calming influence, and productive PG. But I think he can be a real difference maker if he can start getting it to fall.

It would be nice to have Bev for many reasons, but it's nice to see a PG who can throw an entry pass and run a competent PnR. His shooting will come up

I kind of agree that Bev out for the playoffs may be a blessing in disguise. I would have still preferred to have him play spot minutes but it's no big loss.

    1. Bev knows he is due to get paid in this off season. He would have gone all Parsons on us and try to do too much offensively knowing well that offense pays in this league and that he is on National TV come playoff time.

    2. What the above does is take the ball out of our best playmaker in Harden while Bev dribbles out the shot clock going nowhere.

    3. What it also means is Bev is focusing and putting less energy and effort into what he was brought here for mainly his DEFENSE.

His defense already regressed this season as he tried to become a more rounded offensive player who is trying to get paid.

I called the 40% fools gold from the very beginning. 40% on about 1 make a game and a bit over 2 attempts is not a big deal. Too small a sample size to go out and make a statement saying "we're getting a 40% CAREER 3 point shooter"

    Perspective

400 3 Pt attempts is not an insignificant sample. Maybe he's not a sniper, but no way he should suddenly be shooting this poorly. It isn't as if they are heavily contested.

My point is taking 2 attempts a game is not a good indicator of how he will do in a 3 ball centric offense like the Rockets where he could easily take about 5

He's only attempting 2 per game with us. He's actually shooting a bit less than he was in NY this season. He's always been a very reluctant shooter.
