Conference finals without any f... doubt i mean who gives a damn about the MVP?? we want the team to advance
Hakeem winning MVP and the Rockets winning the ring was amazing. Hakeem not getting MVP the following season with Houston being written off and still winning the ring, dismissing the MVP along the way was even better. I'd rather Rockets go deep over James getting MVP. I don't want Harden and this team to get Dirked.
In the end MVP is an opinion based award. Results are results and in the end matter the most is how much you win. People can debate all day about who should have won MVP this year or that year...but they can't debate about who wins championships.
WIN-WIN situation MVB for MVP! Confidence will be further thru Da roof and well confidence is a good thing. Or he goes Hakeem mode in Da playoffs
MVP is more about individual success than team success. Conference Finals is a team accomplishment. Historically, individual awards aren't things people brag about, but team success is something people attribute to fans / the city. Annoying Lakers fans usually will resort to "We got 16 championships!" Not necessarily "We have had X MVP winners here!". Same with Cleveland. Nobody in Cleveland cared that LeBron delivered "2 MVPs" to the city of Cleveland, but a whole lot of people seemed to care about LeBron not delivering a promised championship when he bailed in 2010.
There's one team that wins and a bunch of losers, would rather have a championship or finals appearance than MVP, but we've only ever had 2 MVPs in our franchise history. It'd great to see a future rocket lifer win 1. A loss in the conference finals means nothing in a historical context, at least the MVP will ring throughout history. Again I'd rather finals (not Conf. finals) over MVP, but I'm also thinking about Harden and the Rocket's legacy
You know what rings throughout history? One 2nd round appearance and numerous 1st round exits since the Dream days.
Trap pole almost had me, but I'm not THAT sleep deprived here at 3:32am. Everyone here obviously wants the championship, but we also crave recognition from the media, and really, the NBA in general. We want to be one of those teams others dread to play because of our man Harden. This craving is born out of offseason "woes" (if you will, really blessings) that the media trumped up to make the Rockets seem inferior. My point is that we're getting distracted by a media driven award, when all focus needs to be on getting to the finals & winning. And many posters on this site despise outside media on the Rockets, myself included. Let's just not get caught up in the only game they can control - the MVP race.
Why does it have to be one or the other? I believe James can get the MVP and we can still make it to the WCF. What about last year what was the alternative to get knocked out in the first round? (by a buzzer beater in game 6, at that) I want the best for my team. I want James as the MVP, DMO as most improved, Smith as 6th man, Howard as DPOY, McHale as COY (I know..), Morey as EOY, and still win the championship. It doesn't have to be one or the other. What if Curry wins the MVP and we STILL lose first round?
LOL. Even NBA fans can formulate such a question And I'm not some kind of an NBA hater. But this is rudiculous.
If Harden doesnt win MVP this year and makes it to the finals, the talk by media will be that they made a mistake. They'll go back and second guess their votes. That then opens the door for Harden to win MVP the next year as the front runner and early leader, even if his numbers aren't as magical as this year's. Give me, The City of Houston, Harden, Morey and all of Clutchfans a RING!
