this season has been a pleasant surprise but I dont have that solid belief in them like I did when olajuwon was playing. there was a period there with olajuwon where I was down to go toe to toe with any team.. merely knowing olajuwon was in my corner was good enough. Great times.

So this season I dont expect much. I think we have a great chance and we dont have odds on favorites like a team with kobe and shaq to go up against.

I guess, I dont think the media would be against us per se... that might bode well although LA has clips and largest audience. hmm.

yeah so clips if Im betting conspiracy style.

has really been a great season for this team. I've been watching and rooting since the 96 season (moved to the US 2 weeks after the 95 finals..bummer) and this team has had some great players since. In terms of excitement, the Steve Francis rookie year and and Yao's rookie year were electrifying and exciting, not in the way of championship expectations, but in the way of hope.

James Harden is a spectacular player and closer, and our chances of advancing rest on his ability to rise in the playoffs. Ultimately though, it's going to be about guys like Ariza shutting an opponent down and hitting 3s.

If we get the 2 seed and beat Dallas, I could definitely see us advancing to the WCF and potentially beating GS. This is a confidence and "they're giving us no chance" type of team, and I can see us thriving in that environment.

As you get older, it is actually harder to say because your generation no longer participates. I saw Drexler play in HS, went to Fonde a couple of times and watched, rooted for Dream when he was just a mirage with growing pains at UH, knew the Bunce boys... there was a connection of watching Moses as a kid in Jr. High and being the same age and growing up at the same time as Dream and Drexler and the rest.

So, while this has been a great season and in some ways I kind of think of it like the 92-93 timeframe, I'm old and don't get as pumped up about things anymore. I have a more jaundiced and critical eye which nonetheless loves Harden's game and appreciates the team that has been put together. I'm looking forward to the playoffs to rekindle some of that euphoria from my youth.

I'm not as worried about spending money on a quick fix player as I am worried about trading away valuable "pieces" to get another "fix-em up star" that we don't need.

Nothing will ever compare to those back to back championships, nothing.

I don't really see any on the market that Morey would really go for.
Also I think Morey has been burned far too many times to gamble like that again.

I've been a fan since 81, and this as talented as any team including the championship teams. I just hope we can build some chemistry before the playoffs and everyone stays healthy.

I hate to say it but this team reminds me of the one before the championship team. They are a true title contender, but may be one season away. It would not surprise me if they lose a 7 game series to the title winner. or Western Conference Champ. It might take one more playoff loss to push them to make that one more step.

That said they are amazing in that they seem to never give up. It seems like we have never had a season with so few blow out losses. If they can get rolling in the first round while regaining their health , watch out.

If they can keep Brewer and Smith and Howard comes back at almost 100% I think that they have a good chance in the next three years, starting now. Agreed that we need to keep the core of this team together.

The only caveat is that the point guard position worries me if Terry and Prigioni can hold up with some defensive help from Johnson and Brewer.

I can remember listening on the radio to the San Diego Rockets, I think they were the rockets then too, back when I was in the 7th or 8th grade. My cousin & I used to catch the bus over to Hofeinz pavilion and watch the rockets. The buses were not the red, white & blue metro buses of today. Metro hadn't come around yet. I saw Lew Alcindor, or Kareem, with the Bucs, Pete Maravich, Rudy T, Calvin Murphy, Earl Monroe, Clyde Frazier.

Hofeinz was the best basketball stadium in town then. Then they built the spectrum, or what ever the name of that place was. It's a church now.

This year's team? Hopefully they will make it out of the first round.

I have been a fan since Hakeem's rookie year.

It is really a great achievement what this team has accomplished despite a mountain of injuries to key players, especially your other superstar. It is a proof of how great Harden has been, and in that recognition, I am frustrated in our front office's inability to get a starting quality pg to pair with our MVP.

I believe our playoffs chances could be great if we could nail that 2nd seed, leading to a path to the WCF finals. Once there, anything could happen. At least, there is hope for a deep run, unlike the last 20 years.

It has truly been a remarkable year when you look at how gutsy the team has played considering all the off-season change (losing 3 rotation players: Parsons, Asik, and Lin) and the in-season turmoil with the roster (Jones, Howard, and Beverley). So proud of the team, they remind me a lot of the teams from the mid-2000's, 2005 (Wesley-McGrady-Jackson-Howard-Yao) that lost to the Mavs in Round 1, 2007-08 (Alston-McGrady-Battier-Hayes-Yao) that lost to the Jazz in Round 1, and 2009 (Brooks-Artest/World Peace-Battier-Scola-Yao) that made it to Round 2. This year's squad is so reliant on Harden to initiate offense for himself and others, it bears a striking similarity to the McGrady teams that were one and done in 2005, 2007, and 2008. The one year we made it to the 2nd round, it was because the offense changed with the introduction of Coach Adelman, and other players stepped up to support Yao.

I see that being the downfall of the Rockets this year. We saw it the last two seasons, it is tougher for Harden to be as efficient as he is during the regular season once the playoffs start. We see it at times this year with end of game situations. The throw the ball to Beard and let him create takes a huge toll on the Harden's energy level and effectiveness. Unless he gets help either because of pick and rolls that get easy shots at the rim or in the corners or someone gets really hot, it is hard to see this team succeed at the ultimate level because of the lack of a secondary ball handler and shot creator.

Love the tenacity of the group, I just hope they (and the fans) are rewarded with a prolonged playoff run. Would be so sweet!!

This squad even with its plethora of injuries is on pace to win more games than even the healthiest T-mac and Yao squad in the regular season in an arguably even more difficult Western conference.

I believe none of those earlier T-mac/Yao squads had the level of talent from the 3rd best player to the 6th best player than this squad with a healthy TJones, D-Mo, JSmith and Brewer.

This years competitors to me are weak. An old ass apurs team. A sucky defensive dallas team. Durantless team...

Not disagreeing with you there, but the fact remains, outside of maybe a D-Mo post-up, none of the other guys is going to be getting off shots on their own on a consistent basis. That is what puts the onus on Harden to create shots for himself and the rest of the team. Will be very interesting to see how he and the Rockets mange his usage and rest in the second season.

    Go Rockets!!

This is the first season since the 90's era that I feel that kind of magic I did back then -- not close to the fervor I had back then, but I was young. I never really got it during the Yao/ McGrady era except for the win streak. Then injuries killed the vibe before it ever really got rolling. It seems this year (despite tons of injuries again) all the pieces are falling into place.

I've watched the Rockets since the late 70's, but I was a little kid back then and even got hyped about that '82-'83 team. That team won as many games as the New York Knicks have this season. I guess it was just because I was younger. lol. I think this Rockets team can make some noise, but I just fear the Warriors are the team to beat this season. They wrecked us like the Sonics used to do, so I'm hoping the Rockets can step it up if they're going to face them or that they get beat before we have to face them.

The most amazing thing to me about this season has been that this team has won as many games as they have this season. Give credit to Harden, but also give credit to Morey for keeping options and salary cap open to still be available to sign players like Brewer, Ariza, Dwight, and others when other teams didn't or couldn't due to blowing their salary cap or just not realizing what they could contribute.

Who knows - maybe we'll win it, but I'm pretty even-keeled about the season. I won't be pissed if they have another first-round exit. I'm actually amazed they made the playoffs. If you had told me they would've been where they are now after missing as many games as they have from main contributors, I would've just shook my head and said "not a chance".
