The stats are very informative. I have no problem promoting the stats that Harden puts up. The style of the item could be cleaner and easier to read - the chalkboard scribble font is hard to read and the red doesn't contrast well on the black/grey. Where I find it eye-rolling is the LCD video. Seriously? How much did that cost to implement. Will anyone really watch the entire video? That seemed so wasteful and tacky that it killed the whole idea to me.
harden is the MVP this year - perfect allocation of time, effort, and resources i see a franchise who loves and supports their players
We need OKC to win enough to get into the play-offs so Houston can get that NOP lottery pick. Westbrook hasn't done enough to overtake James Harden in the MVP race, only Curry has a chance to beat him.
Why is it wrong for a franchise to back it's players? Why is the MVP award meaningless? It doesn't equal playoff victories, but it does mean something. If Zach Lowe can't handle that, then it's his problem. The Rockets are doing nothing wrong by supporting their players. Harden's game speaks plenty for itself. It speaks so loudly, that LBJ, Curry, Kerr, and others have spoken out in the media in an effort to sway the media away from him. So there's nothing wrong with the Rockets to speak out in his favor.
It's almost like the front office doesn't want Harden to get MVP. With as hard as our team worked this year, it would be disappointing to settle for an individual accolade. Let's go for the team award instead.
It baffles me that people would complain about well designed swag of a potential future hall of famer.
If you think it was unnecessary and that the media isn't as anti-Houston as we make it out to be, take a look. Look how easily they simply disregard Harden's MVP candidacy. I don't really care about the MVP, but I sure as hell know that it's closer than 80-20 voting. It's a shame. If Harden wins it, ESPN will look like idiots. http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/72836/is-the-mvp-race-already-over
So Daryl Morey is on record in saying that the boxscore is pretty much worthless, but he's backing this booklet which is making the MVP case by highlighting a bunch of boxscore stats for James Harden? If Morey genuinely believes Harden to be the MVP, are these numbers really the reason why? I think the whole thing is stupid, personally. Maybe Harden appreciates it, I don't know, but it just makes the franchise look bad to campaign this hard for individual awards.
ESPN Forecast is based on a sampling of 200 panelists who are knowledgeable of the NBA; not just ESPN media types.
Media ppl having votes is the problem here, their votes can be bought. Votes should come from a panel of former players, coaches and basketball minds. This promotion feels a bit silly, but I don't really care. MVP or not, it's about team success.
seems too damn desperate. I think something like this only backfires and in a way says Harden isn't good enough to garner votes without some type of "persuasive" stunt
This thread title is ****ing stupid. "Brainwashing", seriously?! In what world is player promotion equal to brainwashing?
I just seems tacky. Nothing wrong with promoting a player, but this just wreaks of desperation. It's just really cheesy like and I can see it backfiring.
Steph Curry has degree and namely Under Armour commercials that play on EVERY national broadcast that do the exact same thing...As stated before the Warriors don't have to do anything because the media has their own personal campaign for the guy...I'm all for a little promotion, hell kyrie Irving got a signature Shoe before James Harden...It's like he's invisible outside of Houston or something haha

I think morey should just release this out to fans for purchase. Fans(like me) may want it as memorabilia. Maybe give out a updated version(stat wise) to the crowd of a playoff game. That would be too awesome. Along with the shirts of course. No one really bashed Cuban for his self promotion for Dirk when he won MVP in that 2007 season. I actually think Spears and other media members(Even Lowe) are actually in way doing Morey a Solid by posting these pictures on social media. Now more non analytical people(like charles) can see just how special James has been the entire season.
