I have never understood people who can claim to be fans of two teams playing the same sport and that too two rivals. SOunds like phonies to me

    Spurs and Rockets fan? hahha

Just like Rockets and Mavs fan who was postin gon the game thread

How is it possible to be a fan of two rivals? I guess I am too deep rooted in sports to even think of that. I'd rather just puke

but hey may be one day i'll be a United and City fan too

I think some people here don't understand ownership is also a position that could be changed. Les inherited a championship caliber team. Let's say les sells the team to China tomorrow, china would inherit a great team.

I didn't forget Patterson put Rudy T in place. He was like the Bob Watson Rockets GMs. The Astros got Hunsicker to follow Watson's table setting where as the Rockets got Dawson which kept the Astros window of being relevant with their stars open longer.

I just remember Clutch City being fun and having a never say die attitude that was born out of years of heartache from Rudy T getting punched (wrecked potential championship runs in the late 70s) , to Moses Malone leaving, to that 86 core imploding from injuries/drugs, to the Sonics getting the calls in those two games in Japan in 1992 that tipped homecourt in their favor, and in more recent memory, the Moochie Norris experience followed by the injury bug again.

Could really care less about the owner and just want this city to be buzzing again about one of its major sports teams.

Root for who is there- root for the owner, the coach, and the team. You're all in it together. We don't root for Duncan and not for Pop- duncan, pop, buford, holt - support everyone associated with your team.

That's where Tinman gets it wrong- I'm not rooting for Toronto Raptor Hakeem against the Rockets, nor am I supporting the Lakers b/c Rudy works for them. I support all tied up with the Spurs- if the owner leaves, bye. But not until then. It's way more fun to include everyone to the party. Scarecrow picks and chooses- let's support champion rockets but trash other ones. How can you be cheering for the Rockets and secretly wish fail on T-Mac? What, you cheer when Yao is going to shoot but boo when T-Mac is? You cheer when Harden shows on TV but boo KMCH and Les? Twisted.

A new fan of the Rockets would inherit James Harden. So, no root for Harden? Wait- didn't Les OK the Harden and Howard deals? You guys were staring down 5 years of a lottery crapsand, where some teams stay always, and you're b****ing?? Didn't Les help get you Brewer and Smith- players others wouldn't take? Who did Cuban bring in this year, Rondo and Parsons? Would you all rather have them than Brewer and Smith? Geez, fugged up.

I trust morey, he's had more hits than misses.
He picked up jason terry who was with the mavericks.

There's no such thing as a spurs/rockets fans. When you see them play each other you either spurs fans or rockets fans

Thinking owner A would be a better owner than the owner of my team doesn't change my team, just the owner.

But if hacksaw jim duggan hit me many times i couldn't tell a difference between owners or san Antonio and houston

When my girlfriend and ex and me all have dinner together at the casa, I'm not for one or the other. I do them both. Heck, they do each other.

The rockets lost to spurs in overtime in the 93 season because david Robinson tipped in a shot way after the clock expired. No replay. That screwed up our home court vs Seattle, a series where the home team won all the games.

Plus i hate their new stadium located in the freaking hood.

Yep. Hated them at the time b/c of that. Moved to SA in 1999. Had to be a fan. Not Dallas. Rather be blind. Like the way Mavs fans already are.

I will excuse you because of geographical relocation, but there could only be one team you root for when they play each other.
It's not possible to root for both teams unless it's soccer and you want a tie

Cuban inherited Dirk and Nash, Dirk in his early 20's, Nash in his mid 20's, Les inherited Hakeem but on the wrong side of 30.

You live in a place for 14 years (S.A.), you have to show some respect/be a fan. You grow up rooting for a team (Rockets), hard to give that up. You live in Dallas or grow up as a Mavs fan, paint it black.

Root for the Rockets when Spurs out of the playoffs (never happens, though). Root for Spurs when Rockets out (sad, too often). Rockets vs. Spurs? H-Town- S.A. with a good team, city a bit skanky. But it's OK. Houston rocks, S.A. decent, Dallas a clappy 1-breasted hooker.
