This is when you know you won- someone who lived the 80s/90s Rockets, someone who knows Hakeem, someone who's friggin pissed everytime I-45 and the 610 loop gets jammed- still as of 2012- some things don't change- I know Houston inside out, upside down, over under- Tinman knows Cuban. Bye, pre-99 Newb!

Reason I thought it was handled wrong was because initially, it was declared a "resignation" by Mack Brown, but later turned out to be a forced exit. I felt that Brown had the stature at the school to leave on his own terms. Former A.D. Dodds was Mack's biggest supporter and was willing to let Brown leave on his own way; but when Patterson came in, as noted earlier, feels like a complete long-overdue overhaul, more like a swift, sudden action in a short time frame.

So basically, the true measure of a Rockets is somehow the status they have on a message board and the fact they joined in 1999. From reading posts, anyone who joined in 1999 is just as capable as making an irrational post as someone else. Same for the people who have more green bars than other.

At the end of the day, if we simply can't say that Cuban is also a great owner and that the fan base would likely be just as happy if he was the owner as they are with Les, then we have some issues as a fan base. Les and Cuban provide money and resources to keep their franchises competitive year after year. They (along with everyone else) are also both still in search of that consistent winning formula that the Spurs have achieved and the Lakers had under Dr. Buss. Both guys do everything they can to win titles and run successful businesses.

To address some other issues I have read in this thread: While we all hated the Rockets logo change by Les, the original re-design kept the ketchup and mustard colors everyone loved. However, focus groups for the re-design indicated the Rocket on the logo looked phallic. They went with a design by another person that was more cartoonish and something that also resonated with people outside the city of Houston. We may have hated it but Les also wanted to be national team and people outside the city actually liked the color scheme and logo.

Steve Patterson made some good moves for Houston but nothing he did moved the needle. His best move was not accepting the Heat's counter-offer for Olajuwon but he still offered up Olajuwon in trade in his prime. So if people here are somehow upset that Les got rid of him when he bought the franchise, you are on your own with that one.

But there's one thing he's not: Mark Cuban.

Mavs were created for one reason God tired of Satan b****ing about not having a team. Satan: please, please!! God: WTF? The Cowboys weren't enough? OK, beyotch, I'll make this team called the Mavericks- I'll stick em in Dallas, also- but that's it , no more than 2, word? Satan: word.

Don't forget patterson decided to promote rudy t.

The 99ers aren't people who joined because of the year.
They joined because clutch wanted pure rockets to help build this forum and uphold the principals of clutch city.

Sure they are older, but their love for the rockets goes beyond time
