Maybe it's the same "word out of the building" that told Lopez the Texans were definitely out on Wilfork, hours before signing him.
Much like the "word out of the building" was that there was nothing wrong with Clowney, that he was just being a "diva".....then we find out that he needs microfracture surgery. These alleged leaks are notoriously unreliable.
To both of you: Hench my eyeroll in one of the posts about this. Pisses me off that this sort of nonsense is being put out there.
These sports guys really need to think things that their sources tell them through. As previously mentioned, why would we trade for Mallett, let him start, and then re-sign him if he had an "image problem." Just reeks of stupidity. What a moran!
Would Reggie want to come here and take a stab at the Colts? :

Reggie: No ill will toward #colts. So what is the plans for the Texans to spend the 8 mils extra caps from the JJ restructured contract? At this moment, it's like the 6th or 7th wave of FA, basically anyone will be min salary. What are we holding the money for? Training camp cut pickups? or trade up for a early first round rookie?
There is always a wave of big money guys cut right after the draft, after teams have locked in the cheaper player at the position in the draft. Generally not stars, but rather quality starters who can just be replaced with a cheaper model.
Hub is extremely well connected around the NFL and very well respected. He is a large figure in the industry and has an excellent reputation. He doesn't just make stuff up, someone that has a high profile position told him the information. He doesn't sensationalize or exaggerate. Did the person that told that to him give him old information or an opinion no longer held? Maybe, even Hub would admit that.
Or maybe, his source doesn't know who they're talking about. Or maybe, his source's opinion is different than the person making the decision's. Or maybe, he's making it up. Either way, it reads as unlikely. The guy was under Tom Brady for a few years. He knows what those things are and what it takes. Does he have the passion and will power? Maybe not. If they feel that way, I doubt they'd have extended him. Because they extended him, you have to assume that if they feel that way, they also feel they can potentially change his mindset. Basically, what I'm saying is that, I don't believe this guy. No matter how connected he is. He may have misunderstood his source, if the source exists. Maybe that's the reason they gave him a smaller contract than Hoyer - for motivation. Either way, I'm sure they know that Mallett knows what 100% commitment is and how to be a top flight quarterback. If he doesn't, I doubt anyone in the league does.
This sounds like an old opinion on Mallet, like right after he was drafted. I think he's matured and appears to understand this is his best chance for a starting gig. However, we'll see how the OTAs and PS goes.
On that Mallet thing, everything I've heard about him constantly was just people raving about his work ethic and attitude in his time here so far. Just seems odd it that out of the bloom there would be something saying otherwise
The Texans wouldn't allow this to be leaked if it were true. If he was such a problem for the team he'd be cut early as a statement.
Not saying it's true but far worse things get leaked all the time. Wouldn't be all that surprised though. Rumor back in February that front office had soured on him, comments by McNair that he has to earn a spot on the team, BOB saying he isn't work out with the team and just needing to make it through a practice. Would definitely be a shame though as this is a talented kid who has a rare opportunity to play with one of the best.
well mallet is a low risk high reward type guy. we only had to give up a 7th to get him, and signed him to a "prove yourself" contract. i dont believe it either though.
