With question marks all over the qb situation the best path at this point would be to build a dominant D. Best way to do that is with pressure. Even though they've spent quite a few high picks on the front seven most of these guys haven't panned out, and the jury is out on Clowney. Their pressure is too inconsistent, and to win against the playoff caliber teams they'll need to amp it up.

Like a previous poster mentioned with the Shorts and Washington signings they don't have to take a WR in the 1st rd. JJ needs some help, and building a good young D is the best way to move forward and pray to god that if Mallet isn't the answer that somehow they find that diamond in a future draft, FA, or through a trade.

If Gregory falls to the Texans does conservative Bob allow them to pull the trigger on him (if they feel he's the best pick on the board when it's their pick)?

Most of the speed rushers will be off the board when the Texans select, and do they look at the LB from Kentucky (DuPree)?

The other kid that would help them immensely is the Waynes kid (CB) from Michigan st, but don't think he'll be on the board.

1st---D (outside LB or another DE)
    2nd--WR or OL
    3rd-- whatever you didn't take in the 2nd (WR/OL)

So, in case anyone missed, something called Hub Barker was on the radio yesterday and said that word out of the organization is that Hoyer will likely be the starter because the Texans organization doesn't like Mallet's...well...basically he said they don't like that he acts black.

Lol. But I really think it's 50/50 as to who will be the starter this year. Mallet is still too much of an unknown to just be handed the job. Hoyer has a better shot to be the starter than most people assume.

    Apparently he acts too "street."

Or as Nick Wright said, they don't like that he grew up on "The 8 Mile."

The guy thinks the Texans don't like his persona as the face of their franchise.

    Ridiculous.

Very ridiculous. I doubt Rick and Bob would have resigned him if they felt that way. I'm hoping Mallet wins the job because I do not want to see Hoyer as a starter.

Well, if anyone would know about the inner-workings of the Texans franchise, it would be Hub Barker....

Yep. The Texans are DEFINITELY concerned about Mallett's image. Which is exactly why they traded for him last year and decided to re-sign him this year. Makes total sense.

FWIW, it's Hub Arkush, who was publisher and editor for Pro Football Weekly. The link to the audio is below. Starts about 3:45 in. He doesn't bring up Mallett being "too black", not sure where that part of it comes from. But he does say his "sources" think that Hoyer will be the starter and that Mallett doesn't know what "100% commitment is and how to be a top flight QB". I don't know. He seemed committed last year, too much so, when he hurt himself in the weight room.

John Lopez elaborated on it this morning with Nick Wright saying that the "word out of the building" that he was talking about is that he doesn't work hard enough, doesn't have a commitment to the game because he is too "street." Both said it wasn't true.

chupacabra sucked on that bit and also said some of his sources told him as well.

I think Hoyer's wife or agent is the source:p

sunshine had a lot of soul in him and he was great pick up for t.c williams.

So when Gary came down here it became Broncos south, but now that's he's back in Denver and connecting with Texans players/coaches (that had no connection to Denver -except Kolar) can we now call that Texans North?
