Does this mean Indiana doctors and surgeons can refuse gay patients?

As they should've been. The imposition of religious beliefs on anybody on this country, when you operate within the open-to-the-public sphere, is not permissible nor honorable or moral. It is cowardly.

I just wish conservatives would say it. I mean, they know they've lost, right? Public opinion has shifted on equal rights for homosexuals. At this point, go for broke and just say you don't like gay people. Don't hide behind your church walls and duplicitous rhetoric. If your objection to their presence in society is their very existence, say it .

A quick whois/facebook lookup shows this is a business in London.

Granted, I agree that anyone should be able to refuse/deliver services in the private sector for whatever reason they choose, but this is an #outragefail.

Additionally, my guess is that if you were non-muslim and wanted them to shoot your wedding, they'd go ahead a do it. What they offer is complete halal photography services and they are, apparently, the only photographer in London to offer such services.

Exactly, I tend to not work with student-level clients, mostly with executives and managers- but I wouldn't reject those projects outright, just not my specialty.

Besides, the whole "the Bible is against homosexuality" is a big steaming pile of crap, anyway. First, any reference to anti-homosexuality in the Old Testament is automatically to be ignored b/c, according to the Catholic Church, the New Testament "replaces" the Old Testament - that's why we don't kill people for eating shellfish and for women wearing men's clothes.

If you're going by the New Testament, Paul lumps homosexuality in with "adulterers." So, if they are on equal footing, should we not allow former adulterers to marry? Yes, these are simplistic readings- but the underlying point would be the same in a more detailed discussion- Catholics and others need to get over their homosexuality hangup- from a former altar boy and someone who still occasionally goes to Mass. Because the one thing I can say for certain is the one person who wouldn't discriminate against gay people will be worshipped by billions this Sunday for his resurrection.

I have to ask but what is "Halal photography"?

[EDIT] Nevermind just saw on their site that it is about gender separation so that only females will take and develop photos of females.

Not sure if this is a serious question. This is one where the Hippocratic Oath and medical ethics would over rule any personal feelings or what else the law said.

This is sort of the same situation where hospitals and doctors have to provide emergency treatment regardless of a patient's ability to pay.

no. He was showing you an example of the type of people you are attacking and the type of people you want to go after. The location is irrelevant. You misunderstood his post so i corrected you.

In general, no. But since that company is not in the US, our laws aren't really relevant to them. Perhaps these guys would be a better example:

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/memories-pizza-indiana-anti-gay-law

A family that owns an Indiana pizzeria reportedly said Tuesday that the state's new "religious freedom" law protects their right to deny some service to gay couples.

Crystal O'Connor, whose family owns Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Ind., told local TV station WBND that their Christian beliefs would prevent them from catering a same-sex couple's wedding.

“If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide them pizzas for a wedding, we would have to say no,” O'Connor told the news station.

You weren't joking. Just very very dumb. I guess I'll have to break it down for you.

Commodore is commenting about a law passed in the United States and then posts an example from the UK and writes-

How are "we" going to prevent this discrimination from occurring in England?

He has either been duped or he is very very dumb. I realize these aren't mutually exclusive.
