To be fair, Josh and Dwight were already poor FT shooters before the Rockets ever got their hands on them. No excuse for the guys we developed though. Didn't DMo have a much better FT% in Europe for that matter?

I think we need a dedicated FT coach and an extra 30m added to each practice just for FTs.

Smith was .700 in Atlanta. Howard was .600 in Orlando. Both of them dropped off significantly in the past 2-3 years. But I think they should still be able to improve those FT%s. It'll kill us in the playoffs.

Teams could easily beat us by hack-a-Smith/Dorsey/Capela. We're very limited on big men. Once we go small ball for continuity, we'd be dominated on the boards.

It is by no coincidence that Josh Smith's 3 point fg% has increased since he started hitting 300 3's during every practice. If these players did the same thing for FT's the rox would go from dying by free throws to straight up living...

You have to make adjustments to guard DeRozan! Put Ariza on him once the second half started! It seemed to me the coaching staff was more tired than the players tonight...

What happens in the games reflects what's happening in practice.

Ariza is our weakest link - send him back to Washington!

Ariza is fine, just offensively he can go nuts just like Josh, both like tough shots when not needed. It's not like they are Harden who is better with a hand in his face. They didn't have Lowry, so the injuries should be no excuse imo. We're fighting for 2nd seed and had the lead, just letting DeRozan get wide open shots and not sending double teams + a weird last sequence put the nail in the coffin. Have to more poised, smart and tougher than this.

This is why I fear the play-offs:
    A) when a guy goes off on us and
    B) when we're down and have the ball on a last possession
McHale seems clueless what to instruct his players to do. It's give Harden the ball and get out the way 9/10 and because he's really good, he delivers most of the time. Come play-off time, you can bet your ass they are not going to let Harden get the ball late in games so then what do we do? I have little faith in our coaching staff and players since they are free to do whatever and have no creators outside of Harden.

Just so you know, the Rocket's front court was Smith, Dorsey, and capela. I'm shocked we almost won... So lets give McHale some sort of credit.

With that front line we should have won. Toronto isn't that great.

exactly right, and it took a career game from derozan to win.

all on a back to back.

I'm screaming at the TV give it up Josh give it up. As he wanders down the court and you can see a bubble pop up above his head with the following "What should I do, drive, jump in air and pass, shoot a 3 or shoot a midrange, no... I will just charge directly into the 8 people standing in the lane". This is the lowest part of his ball IQ that kills us.

How does Derozan the only scorer for Toronto besides up/down Lou Williams go off for 42, when you can put Brewer and Ariza on him. Then to have James on him for the last shot, was str8 ridiculous.

Because we had a great chance to win this. We play in the West where every game counts. Its the difference between a match up vs Dallas or SAS or Por..

FT shooting and McHale's clueless coaching always seem to be part of reasons we lose games. You would think they would work on that. Now we can add our MVPs mediocre shooting as well

and this is 100% not always true. i guess you don't know DH hits FT's in practice at a very high rate.

I didnt really understand why Ariza or Brewer wasn't on the hot Derozan. These are the small things that cost the team wins and will cost the team playoff series
