    No, you don't get it.

You equate the action of 3 black men with all the systemic racism that exists and you make them the same.

No it's not. A white guy killing a black person might be a hate crime, but that's not what people are protesting about. You just don't get it.

It's the SYSTEM. It's the entire criminal justice system which is unfair to blacks and other minorities. That's what people are protesting about.

At least understand that much and stop it with these stupid threads. Everyone here knows what those "perps" did was a crime and disgusting. There's nothing to debate there. You are the one trying to say "See this means there is nothing wrong with the criminal justice system. White cops have a right to shot whomever and blacks shouldn't protest or it's all on Obama's head"

    You're a fool.

How many times have we read "unarmed black teen murdered by white cop?"

And, lest we forget, the victim on the bus said something akin to his not having an opinion on the Mike Brown case.

Sad to see NO ONE stepped in to help the victim! You guys can continue playing the race card (on both sides) until you're blue in the face, but the reality is that we, as a society, are despicable! I've said it before and I'll say it again no one gives a crap about anyone else except for yourself, your family, and perhaps a very close personal friend! It could of been 3 black guys assaulting another black guy and the response would of been the same! Rare is the case where someone does something ONLY because it's the right thing to do! In this case helping the WHITE victim was the right thing to do, but once again we as a society failed to meet the challenge!

I'm a big believer in what people call "karma", except I know it by a different term, I call it "reaping what you sow", and those three young men have something unpleasant coming their way!

No we're not. No one is debating whether or not these acts are hate crimes. They are. That's not the issue.

    You are proving my point.

I did basic there and I agree completely, there's nothing at all good about the state of Missouri, it's the ******* of the US.

No, you said "we are not talking about a hate crime here..." That is saying it is NOT a hate crime.

That is a world apart from saying "we are not debating whether or not these acts are hate crimes..." That is saying it is INDEED a hate crime.

    Polar opposites.

Everyone who was standing around watching and didn't help should go to jail...

I saw a bunch of posters saying that about the kids who had an altercation. But they're not saying it here. Nor is anyone saying they want to fight this dude like they said they wanted to fight a girl... And I'm not surprised. Lol...

You are taking what I said out of context. I was meaning that we're not talking about hate crimes but rather systemic racism - that the latter is the issue, not the former. I don't disagree that what those guys did is not a hate crime.

I just don't think it's somehow is relevant to the larger discussion that is being raised by what has happened with the police recently.

I have a friend who is a cop. Just about every day he posts something about an officer somewhere who IS murdered doing some routine policing duty such as a traffic stop.

The subject of this thread was not systemic violence in the police force; you guys wanted to change the focus. The subject was an isolated event where some black kids felt empowered and licensed to take their "rage" out on some innocent white guy riding the night bus.

    There's your systemic violence.

If by "just about every day," you mean "about every third day," then you may be close, but more likely not. According to NPR, 126 police officers were killed in 2014. They didn't break down how many were killed in "routine policing duty," but I wouldn't doubt it is a significant percentage of those.

Still, being a police officer doesn't even make the top ten of most dangerous jobs in America.

EDIT: Looking at the article, many were killed in traffic accidents, I suppose that could be part of "routine" duties.

... so I'll amend my initial comment to include "gravely injured" as I look back on his reports.

    One is too many.
