Personally, I don't care how Lin does as he is not a Rocket anymore. I do love watching his fans suffer and meltdown though.

I think the article brings up legitimate points about over valuing his highs and beating up his lows, and the deleterious impact of his Asian uber Christianity on people's perception of his toughness.

That said, the author lost legitimacy showing stats while lacking context. His turnover rate was ignored and defensive deficiencies were refuted by a D'Antoni quote (the irony).

It's more than fair to criticize the jerks who are bigoted with their insults. There are many of them among the ignorant masses on social media. It's also lacking not to point out the hoards of crazies that cry racism at every critique of Lin. Their presence is just as big and unfairly damaging to his image.

Beautifully written post, as expected of a real 99'er and true Clutch City member.

Maybe tinma'm can take some notes.

"Lin knows that his story has so many different threads that, at this point, it's an imprecise experiment for isolating the effect of race upon perceptions of manhood. Still, he's been gathering evidence his whole life: on the kids who invariably demanded to guard "the Asian" on the playground; on the fans who yelled "sweet and sour pork" and "wonton soup" at Georgetown and UConn; on the Ivy League opponent who called him "Chink" on the court; on the basketball observers who argued that Golden State only wanted him as marketing stunt; on the racist comments at the bottom of any video or article about him. Lin doesn't hear everything. But he can't ignore everything." - Pablo Torre

Lin said it himself...is he crazy too?

I don't see anything there saying that he feels he has been benched or "marginalized" because of racist coaches or organizations. Which is exactly what an endless list of Lin fans cried about around here.

The author is the new wave of ESPN young idiots who knows very little to nothing about sports, if you will watch some "around the horn", you should probably know him.

Not long ago, he hosted a panel in the Morey nerd conference and the first thing he said " I am here just because I did not get any girls in high school".

    Boring, and stupid.

Lin has a whole movie about himself.
    It's on Netflix.

When it first came out, LOF proclaimed the movie to be some masterpiece like gone with the wind.

I don't know that Lin fans accuses coaches of racism...its more about incompetence. Something people are attaching to McHale now.

Fans "cries" around here, about other people saying racist things about Lin or Asian in general, whether its blatant or back-handed. From the article, Lin recognized the perception of him but doesn't let that be deterrent from doing what he loves. The puts the responsibility on his own shoulder.

At least that's what I got out of it.

Article is a pretty good read. Still a solid basketball player. Obviously, his current contract is ridiculously overpaying, but that somehow leads salty fans / haters / people to think Lin is overrated or that Lin is a crappy basketball player.

    He's not overrated - he's just overpaid.

Though not in depth, Lin's TO rate WAS talked about. And the D'Antoni quote didn't attempt to hide anything. Author was talking about speed, and the D'Antoni quote was talking about Lin's quickness. Speed was the thing 'debunked' by D'Antoni.

    its cause people cant read.

dude says Lin is a bad defender because he doesnt have speed, Pringples refutes that by saying he's one of the fastest atheletes.

issue is imo that its not straight line speed but lateral speed, i.e. how quickly u can shift your feet that has more influence on how good a defender you are. Lin is at best, sub-par in terms of lateral footspeed relative to his peers

Lin plays fast cause he thinks the 24 second clock expires faster in the 4th quarter.
It's his Adidas shoes, it makes him want to jump

When you really just want to bounce pass
