Once the playoffs come, pump fakes only work for superstars.

The rest of the players shouldn't bother pump faking. Just shoot, drive or pass.

    Within 3 feet:

Terrence Jones- 69% this year, 72% career

    DMo- 64% and 64%

    NBA average- 64.6%

    Nope, not the same.

    That's not right either.

Pump fakes from the perimeter work great for legitimate good shooters like DeMarre Carroll, MIke Scott, Mike Dunleavy, Aaron Brooks, JR Smith, James Jones..................and a whole host of other non-superstar role players that can shoot a jump shot efficiently and proficiently with a basketball that I don't have the time nor interest to list for you.

Pump fakes from the perimeter DO NOT WORK for role players like Terrence _ones nor do they work for superstars like Dwight Howard that can't shoot a jump shot efficiently nor proficiently with a basketball.

Doesn't matter whether they are a superstar or a role player. If they can't shoot a jump shot efficiently, their pump fake from the perimeter WON'T WORK in a 7-game playoff series.

Apparently, pump fakes work for bad shooters in the regular season, but in the post-season defenders finally read the scouting reports...or something.

You're absolutely right, defenders will continue falling for the pump fake of a 30% shooter over and over again, they'll never learn that they WANT him shooting instead of trying to get to the 2 feet or so around the rim which is the only place on the court where he can score efficiently.

And yet TJones scores more points than DMo at a higher percentage. Crazy how that works.

Someone please tell TJones that his style of play doesn't work.

But these same teams fall for it when it's the regular season, according to basketballholic.

Maybe they fall for pump fakes in the second round. Hard to say.

Oh putbacks and transition baskets absolutely work....but they don't create spacing which was what we were talking about. There's nothing wrong with being an energy player like Jones, but don't pretend it's more than it is.

Also, don't a lot of GMs fall for pump fakes on Draft Day?

Don't have to pretend. He actually is more than an energy player, as evidenced by his higher impact than DMo on the floor.

Agreed, it'll open the offense up even more. It's nice having our starting PF be one of the best 3 point shooters on the team along with having the best post game. It really allows the offense to do a lot they normally couldn't.

You can only ignore stats so long and rely on that good 'ol eye test.

So Jones at PF has a higher impact than DMo playing out of position at center? Crazy talk. I didn't realize that was the threshold, how would Jones do at center?

And no one is arguing that Dmo isn't a good 3pt shooter and post player.

We've already made it clear that DMo sucks less at center, but they both suck at center.

Someone tell Morey he drafted an energy player in the first round.

    TJones = Ryan Bowen

And it's clear that DMo is better at PF than Jones is. Different players, but DMo brings the most to the table, simple as that.
