He looks a little like V-Span with that scruffy beard. At least probably enough to cause a DaDakota erection.

Not sure exactly where the Rockets cap is at but they are Hard Capped at the apron ~80milliom. They have already used their MLE (KPap) BAE (Smith) and can only use as a minimum salary on a player as long as it does not push the team salary past the apron. There is no possible way to sign Llull this season.

The offer described would have to be for next season.

Good, let's bring him in next season and see what he's got. He can't be worse than Beverly, can he?

I'm assuming only the first year is guaranteed and the next 2 will be Team Option. Something mauri would do. Then get rid of him the following summer when the team finds one weakness (can't defend maybe?) in him.

One more guy for CFers to scream: "Dumb McFail lets the great player rot on the bench!"

Pau level? That seems a bit high. I think he can be a solid contributor, but it's hard to predict a player's success when they play in Europe. No doubt that he's crafty and skilled, like most European players are, but can he play defense and can he make smart basketball decisions?

He's in the prime of his career right now, at 27 years old, so he won't be improving much. He'll have to get with the NBA style and speed in just a few months to really be ready for playoffs next year.

He could get to Jose Calderon level, best case is Dragic level, but that'll be tough to do when you start playing at the NBA level at 27.

They can never be wrong. Because they can always say "you never know" which is so dumb. Canaan can't even start on the worst team in the NBA. Prigioni wasn't starting on the Knicks. And they demand(ed) for them to either be starting or to be in a 8 man rotation.

However, I think Llull can be a starter in the NBA. It'll take some times to get acclimated to the atmosphere, but if Beverly is still on the team next year, and we don't see an upgrade at the position, Llull could probably take over by All-Star break time. It would be exciting though!

and hope his team would release him from his contract with the euroleague playoffs a fortnight away.

also to have llull break his contract at such a time exposing himself to fan backlash.

the talk aboout llull was plainly about next season.

Everyone wondered why we gave up a lot for Pablo. Me thinks this Mauré is very very sneaky.[IMG]

Yeah he moves like him, but not as good of a shooter or passer. He's a messy Nash.

Really? We don't know if he can handle the speed of the NBA game.

In addition, is McHale going to play him? I doubt Morey is going to be able to pay him that much. Esp. after we sign Papa to $4M to ride the bench half of the season.

Tad Brown was on 790 this morning and discussed this. Notes:

    1) Llull is a guy that has been under the radar. Morey really likes him. We'd be interested in bringing him over if we can.
    2) Morey had discussions with his camp in Europe, nothing serious.
    3) Reports are exaggerated.
    4) Anything that would happen would be for next year, groundwork laid for summer discussions.

    That's a paraphrasing.

NBA Executives seem to disagree with you

Here's some of Gersson Rosas' comments about Llull:

    http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/film_session_sergio_llull_2012_02_27.html

So Rosas says that he's very athletic and is a better athlete than Lowry or Dragic.

Rosas again mentions his athleticism and says the he's an above average defender.

Here's some comments from Sixer GM Sam Hinkie:

    http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/introducing_sergio_llull_shed_2010_01_21.html

Hinkie too talks about his athleticism.

Hinkie says he has "great speed, NBA speed". Calls him a gifted, active, committed defender.

Hinkie calls his ball handling "quite good".

Can you show me a link to any reliable source that says Llull is unathletic or that he plays no defense?
