Netflix has been BEGGING to expand into foreign markets. How many Indians have the Internet? HBO go is about to launch a stand alone HBO GO. This isn't 2002 anymore.
So to get Indian viewers Netflix plans to pay clarkson 12 million pounds for a 3 year, 30 episode contract while also hiring may and hammond? All to recreate a show that got trounced by the midwife show domestically. It doesn't make any sense. To you point about Nick Cannon, he is WAY more recognizable than the top gear trio in the USA. My hope is they bring back may and hammond, the show doesn't change much and everyone is happy with the racist out in the cold.
Richard and James have already said they won't do the show without Jeremy. They said they are a package deal. Both stopped contract negotiations when this whole "Fracas" started. The show has viewers and in today's world that means a lot more than you think. Game of Thrones has more viewers that don't have HBO than those that do. This is 2015. Torrents exist and HBO isn't going to just shut it down they evolve (see HBO go stand alone) Nick Cannon has 5 million Twitter followers. Jeremy Clarkson has 4.8 million.
Stupid government controlled companies. I'm glad that in US America nobody ever gets fired when their bosses are unhappy with them.
So what did this guy do again? I've watched the show here and there, not a loyal Top Gear fan by any means. But when they got down to the vehicles business of things I enjoyed it. Some of their guests were pretty cool too.
therefore Nick Cannon is much more popular in the USA. Torrents don't pay the bills. As to James May, when push comes to shove why would he turn down millions of pounds. His agent has already backed away from his statement. we shall see how it plays out, but it is highly unlikely this represents anything beyond an upcoming massive paycut for Clarkson.
My hope is that the show goes on with Clarkson after some very public lashings from the BBC. He pays his penance and returns for next season. Remember two and a half men? That show went to **** without Charlie. Charlie even high on cocaine and stinking of whores is better than Ashton Kucther.
history of verbal and physical abuse with other employees, was given several warnings, said racism and other prejudice stuff against minorities etc. if this were any normal employee at any of the places i worked he been fired long time ago. dont matter if your a rich british person or not, there are rules and you gotta follow them.
My understanding is he beat someone up because of a dispute where there was no food being served at the end of a work day when it was planned for and should have been. It seems kind of silly. He must have been really hungry. Sounds like he has a huge ego. That said...I enjoyed the show albeit I didn't watch them all. You kind of have to like Brit humor a bit. But, it's mostly the road trip races, car talk, and celeb track time races that sucked me in. I also like all 3 of them. I do hope they stick together and do a new show. This guy needs a reality check, though, on some of his bad behavior. Did he even apologize to the the person he roughed up?

Clarkson is definitely the most entertaining of the 3 on the show. I'm not a huge fan of the show, but I watch every now and then. The British version is definitely better than the US version. I would think Fox would jump at the chance to hire a known racist. I have no idea who Nick Cannon is.
As much as i enjoyed his work, i never understood the nut huggery about him. Even on screen you can tell he is very opinionated and rude...
Part of what makes him enjoyable to watch. He brings a little chaos to a world that tries to pretend it's so correct and orderly. I LOVE Top Gear. I can watch reruns of that show like nothing else. I hope dearly that all three hosts move on to a new project together. They have a unique way of making me laugh and brightening my day - rude and opinionated as Jeremy is.
Yes, it's been stated that he made multiple attempts to apologize. Doesn't excuse what he did, of course - over what sounds like an insane reason. Ironically, despite all of the rage and umbrage directed towards Jeremy over the years Top Gear is so beloved internationally that it really bridges borders and brings fans together. Their trips around the world are legitimately culturally interesting. And NOTHING is off limits to criticism to them, which is what I love. I rarely get into fanboy mode like this, but Top Gear has been such a constant for me over the last 10 years that there will be a small void if they don't go on in some way.
