agreed. There is no way in hell we are going in to the playoffs with uncle pablo as the starting pg. Harden will handle the ball and guard the worst offensive player as usual. I just hate losing firepower off the bench but hopefully KJ or Nick can come in and do SOMETHING, and hopefully that something isn't shoot jumpers
"Uncle Pablo" is better than people think... an upgrade over Canaan and capable of a solid 20-25 minutes with solid defense and few mistakes.
I'm in this camp. Not going to say we are better off without Bev but if I had to pick one rotational player to go down.. I think it would be him. He hasn't been playing defense in a hot minute and unless he's hitting his 3 he is just dribbling around aimlessly.
Wasn't he hurt during that series? I remember he and Dwight being injured toward the end of the regular season and I thought that he was still banged up during the playoffs. Honestly, Bev regressed in pretty much every facet of his game this season. His defensive intensity seemed to be lacking and his 3PT shot had been way off for awhile now. The Bev that was playing for us these past few months is not the one we want come playoff time. That said, I'd still prefer a healthy Pat with JET (and occasionally Prig) coming off the bench than having to rely on the two oldest guards in the league to carry the load against stiff Western Conference competition.
I'd be more concerned about this if Beverley actually had played well this year-- He's been barely "OK" and nowhere near as good as he was last season. Injuries have really slowed him down. His offensive production got worse, but not hugely so. The bigger part is his defense. He used to be able to pressure the ball while still stay in front of his guy pretty well. He just doesn't that mobility anymore. When he pressures a ball handler, he'd too often just get blown by. In crunch time, the team often puts a wing defender on the opposing star PG instead of our All Defense 2nd Team PG.
Well, we could probably start with "playing with torn meniscus and flu/fever requiring multi-day hospitalization." I do think he likely did more harm than good by trying to push through, FWIW.

Sounds about right for the wait and see mod, wait a while to see if it can be healed on its own and see how the 2 old grandpa will be doing on the floor and then decide if he needs to come back with no hands.
Heh. What happens to Bev if the Rockets go on an extended winning streak over the next 7-10 days? I guess he can say it's because of Dwight and come back and try to play anyway.
Yeah... But he still started all 6 games and played 33.7 mpg. If he sucked because he was hurt he shouldn't have been playing. It's not like he was great the year before in the playoffs. He also had a drop from the regular season. The best thing he did was injure Westbrook. Maybe blessing in disguise is too much. But least concerning player injury on the team might be more accurate. The best thing I can say for him is he takes up a lot of minutes without forcing a ton of errors. There will be an issue of having to replace his minutes... But should be manageable.
If the Rox will win the next 5-7 games, I am very sure Bev will sit out at least till the play off. Even Harden will rest also after that.
If you will check the schedule, its not hard to see that the Clippers will have a laughable, most easiest schedule in the league for their remaining games. Its very possible for them to catch the Rockets and move to the 3rd spot. It is still very possible the Rox will play against the Blazers in the first round this year, and Bev will remain as a factor hence the Rox will do whatever they can and wait to see to make the final decision.
While Beverley himself doesn't commit turnovers by forcing plays, it doesn't mean that he's helping the team's turnover problems. The Rockets are still one of the most turnover-prone teams in the NBA this season (3rd worst in turnovers per possession) and they are just as turnover-prone with Beverley on the court vs. with him off the court. There is still just 24 seconds for a team to make something happen, and the fact that Beverley is not trying to create (and not very good when he does try) means that somebody else on the team having to do it. To the extent that these other guys tend to commit turnovers when they have to force things, it still hurts the team.
